My good friend, male 67, recently turned yellow. He saw a doctor who tested him for hepatitis, results negative. A CT scan showed that the gall bladder was without stones, but enlarged. It was then discovered that the duct leading out of the gall bladder was constricted. A stint was put in so that the duct could again pass bile. Everything seemed fine until today, when the jaundice returned. It is suspected that the duct has re-constricted or clogged from a kind of "sludge."
My question is, could a remedy treating the symptoms--yellow skin, clay-colored stool, tea-colored urine and intense itching--be used to attempt to address the clogged duct? I'm waiting to hear from all of you and to learn. Thanks. Kathy

Dear Kathy,

The concomitant symptom of severe itching leads me to suggest Dolichos 30C, 2 or 3 times a day for 2 or three days--adjust according to his response or lack of response.

However, the average person doesn't have this remedy and would have to order it. You could try Lyc. while waiting, which also has itching.

Here's a rubric I found--Skin: itching, jaundice, during-dol., hep.(2), myric., pic-ac., ran-b.,
thyr., trinit.

Hi Kathy,

BErberis has always helped the passage of Gall stones, so I think it would aid the passage of sludge.

The symtoms you mentions are common symptoms of elevated uncojugated bilirubin in the blood and would be expected anyway. Why the duct has suddenly got blocked is the question. Any idea about that - homoepathically I mean? Any causative factor?

Snoopy has made a couple good suggeations. And if the causative factor fits, I'm satisfied with them.
Regards,
