I was just perusing a book on energy work by Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D. Alberto is an anthropologist who trained with Incan shamans for a long period of time before founding the Healing of the Light Body school (he's also written a number of books on the subject). In this particular book, he issues a caveat about using energy to treat cancer because in some cases it can "feed" the cancer and make it worse. I believe his school is in L.A. where you are.

Basics about cancer
Cancer does not exist without someone having it. The consequence is, that the person who has the ‘’cancer’’ has to be treated individually, as the same ,,cancer’’ affects every person different. The mere diagnoses does not give the true indications for its treatment. It is the signs and symptoms, expressed by the patient and observed by the physician, which form the true diseasepicture, which is the sole indication for medical interference. As a living system is governed by a dynamis, it is merely this dynamis which has to be restored to order, if one wishes to recover to full health.
Homeopathy is a therapy, which possess remedies fulfilling the above requirements. These remedial substances have been proven on healthy individuals, till all effects were brought out in advance to the aplication at the sickbed. Unlike other therapies which become paradoxical to their normal principals (radiation which usually is detrimental becomes beneficial), homeopathy remains steadfast to scientific principals.
