I may be wrong but I believe the book that has homeopathic "pictures" of constitutional (people) types is by Lockie. It is a very pretty book with a short synopsis of several remedies including pictures of the raw substance of each remedy such as Simone included in her post and a quick look at individual characteristics of each remedy. I have given that book as a gift to many people who have just become interested in homeopathy because it includes the very basics of each remedy and is a delight to read. Not everyone is so well learned from the start.....and all must start somewhere. I often wish I had kept one of the books for myself.

Hi GPM-

You're right about Lockie's book--its the one I "accidentally" took from a roommate (who was not very interested in it, I'm afraid) many years ago, which led me to decide to study and practice.

Lockie states in his book that the "depictions" are just one example of what a person who needs a particular remedy might look like--they are very generalized depictions which illustrate some keynotes well. If a person were to actually read the book, they'd know they were looking at generalizations of brief points about each remedy. But they would also know some very well explained truths about homeopathy--the Law of Similars and its history, how remedies are made, how they are selected to be used by homeopaths, etc. etc.

As an introduction to homeopathy, its really pretty good. The beautiful illustrations really help the reader to "imagine" the remedy--from its source to its use. And the descriptions of remedy preparations are still among the best--easy to read and understand.

The writers focus on just the major polycrests for their "depictions"...and then give some basic descriptions of many other remedies commonly used, too. I often use the book as an introduction tool to help absolute newbies to homeopathy know a little bit more about the subject. I find people come away from reading it with a great interest to know more.

It is written by Andrew Lockie and Nicola Geddes, and its been in print a while now. My copy is about 6 years old; but I still see the book around in bookstores like Chapters--I'm sure the big chains in the states like Borders and Barnes and Noble may still stock the book in their alternative health sections.
