I am hoping someone can help. I have always had headaches, but this week has been very hard. I have had a headache that just won't quit.

Tues, Wed., and Thur. my head hurt on the right side, near my temple. It is usually the case that my head hurts in one spot only and that was true with this headache.

Today the pain was pretty much gone, just a bruised feeling left. Then about 3:30 or 4:00 this afternoon my head started hurting on the left side, near my temple. I feel pretty frustrated.

I have to confess that my favorite headache cure is caffine -- a cup of black tea or decafe coffee, and 2 advil. I don't drink caffeinated coffee, so I get enough help from the decafe.

I know there will be more questin so I'll be looking for them. I would love to be able to give headaches up or tend to them in a more effective way.

Thanks much,
MAriah

First let me say that I can totally sympathize with you - as a fellow headache sufferer

We need more info to prescribe on. Describe the pain, what makes it better or worse, any food cravings during the headache? Sleep changes? Mood? temp changes?

You described the headache as starting on the rightand moving to left - is this typical? Does the headache often start on the right and move to left - or alternate sides?

More info will beneeded to prescibe a constitutional remedy but for now I think this will do to determine an acute headache remedy.

Hi Mariah!
Not heard from you in a long time! Yes answer Barb's questions and we'll see if we can find an acute remedy.

BUt if you've had this going on a long time - a consitutinal is the best bet.
Maybe you could post your whole case too sometime?

Warm regards,
doctorleela

Dear Mariah,

If coffee gets rid of the headaches, ironically, coffee might be causing the headaches. I too am a headache sufferer and I often have a hard time finding a remedy that will help. Usually when I have been able to get help with a remedy, it's been because a big keynote of a remedy has popped up as a symptom--like your headache moving from right to left. That happened to me once--a big keynote of Lycopodium. I didn't hesitate in taking Lyc. and it worked! Another time I had a headache that went away when I tilted my head backwards--a keynote of Silica. I took Silica and the headache went away.

Other times I've gotten the right remedy based on figuring out the cause. When I realized that one of my headaches was caused by grief, I took our main grief remedy, Ignatia, and the headache went away.

There are times when the image of the CONCOMITANT symptom is so clear, you can prescribe on that!
For instance, once during a headache my daughter got on my nerves and I slammed a plastic vitamin bottle down so hard on the kitchen counter top that I broke the bottle! I said, "Oh my God,
Staphysagria!" Staphysagria has sudden violent outbursts in people who are usually mild and agreeable. I took Staphysagria and the headache went away. Another time, I had a concomitant sensation that my stomach was full of water, a keynote of Nux Vomica. I took Nux Vomica and the headache went away. Another time I realized I was drooling--a keynote of Mercury. I took Merc. and the headache went away. Still another time, I felt deep despair with the headache, a keynote of Aurum. I took Aurum and the headache went away.

Chamomilla is the main remedy for headaches from coffee withdrawl. Just something to file away for future reference.

I hope this brief airing of my experience has been of some help.

Snoopy

Snoopy, you are always enlightening. One of the common forms of headache is a sense of nail driven into one of the temples. Thuja, Ignatia, Coffea have that. Thuja is predominently left-sided but modalities and cocomittants should decide the choice.

Mariah, if you have enough time, copy the instructions from: www.geocities.com/homoeopathpk/Form.html and submit your case here for finding a constitutional remedy for your problem.

Good morning,
I will start working on submiting my case to you all, but for now here is this info about htis headache -- which i still have on the left side.

No food cravings, no temp changes, nothing seems to help releive the pain except caffine.

It is not unusual for a headache to move from side to side, but it does not always. IT is typical, and true with this headache, that my pain is located in one small spot, near my temple.

Thanks, everyone, for your help.
Mariah

Mariah

since no oneelse has replied yet - did you try nux vom?

I also came up with kali bich, cann-i (you probably don't have that).

can you describe the pain? Throbbing, stabbing? Does it help to lie on painful side - orworsen it? what about bending forward or backward? ANy big weather changes? to prescribe properly more info is needed.

HI Mariah,

Probably this time a dose of Sepia 30 will help.

Maybe you could explain your frustration a bit more, and that would confirm Sepia.

In the meantime, a complete case history is in order!!

Regards,
doctorleela

Good morning,

I have not tried any remedies yet but I do have nux and will try that.

THe pain is not throbbing or stabbing. Just a constant ache. IT does seem to help to lie on the painful side. BEnding backward or forward had no effect.
The weather has been in constant change -- spring is coming and we have gone from near 70 degrees F to 30 over the past week.

I am working on the case nad hope to get it posted today.
