Hi
My daughter is five years old, the second of four kids.
She complained of sore throat. Gave her kali bich. 6x, several times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (yesterday). Doctor took throat culture yesterday and tested positive for strep. I guess the kali is not doing anything. What can I give her?
During pregnancy had ongoing bladder/kidney infection for last 3 months. Otherwise normal full term pregnancy and delivery. Was born with birthmark/nevus on face and had 2 surgeries to remove it.
No vaccinations and no antibiotics ever.
Very courageous, brave little girl. Very soft hearted. Expressive. Likes most foods.
Any help? Thank you.

HI,
Maybe you could tell us:
When the sore throat started?
What could be the possible cause?
What is the type of pain she complains from?
IS she thirsty?
DOes she prefer something cold or hot to drink?
How does she feel in general? - tired, dizzy, weak etc
Does she feel cold or hot? ie do drafts affect her, does heat affect her, etc
What makes the throat better or worse, adn what time of day or night does she feel most uncomfortable?
IS there any change in her mood from what she is usually?

Regards,
doctorleela

PS; If a remedy helps her with the first few doses then its good to continue. Its best not to neglect a strep throat.

Thanks for your response, I'll try answering one by one.

She started to complain sometime in the begining of last week.
I don't know so cause for the soar throat.
She complains that her throat hurts, nothing in particular, also that inside her mouth it's itching.
She IS thirsty.
She prefers drinking cold.
This morning she complained that her head hurts, indicating along the hairline.
She's running a low grade fever between 100 to 102 F.
It does not seem any difference between day and night. The past night she awoke about 1 AM and asked for a sweater cause she's cold, then at 4:30 she awoke again that she's hot (she had 102 fever at that time) and her head hurts she's itching all over.
Her mood did not change much of her usual.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Not much to go on here.
Seems like Merc is indicated, but I'd like more characteristics like excessive salivation, profuse perspiration which <, or creeping chilliness etc.

Here is where I'd prefer a constitutional prescription with the entire history details. Maybe you could find out how you could see a homeopath and get a good prescription.

Warm regards,
Doctorleela

Thumbs up

Hi,

I gave Merc. Sol 12x approx. 4 doses. By the time she went to bed this evening her temperature was 102.8 F, and she claimed that her headache is gone, and the itching and sore throat are better. (But I don't really know how accurate her answers are, because earlier she had said that the symptoms are worse - she's only 5 years old).

Thanks for your help.

HI Concern,

I think you could wait a bit - no more medication. IF she says that her headache is gone and the itching in her mouth and soreness is better, then Merc could be working ( I had used some of these rubrics to choose Merc), including the feeling cold and hot in bed at night.

Difficult to say if it is a positive response. IF the remedy were her consitutional, I would be happy with it.
If you repeat more Merc, the fever will only go higher. Let the body fight out the infection now. And lets see what happens.

The immediate concern is keeping the fever around 101 which is more comfortable, with tepid sponging.

Anyway, all the best.

PS; You could contact me privately if you like. Sometimes I don't get onto the BB when I'm busy.
