Hi

I left this board a while ago as I felt I had nothing more to contribute.

I often thought about you lot and wondered how things were going for you all!

So here I am back again and it's lovely to see your enthusiasm and interest hasn't waned.

I have been so ill since last year, mainly with digestive problems.

Homeopathy has eased the symptoms, but I am now so sensitive to remedies that I cannot tolerate constitutional treatment and can only take 6cs diluted in water.

This week I have been having tests in hospital Arrgh . On Tuesday I had a gastroscopy and tomorrow I am having a barium enema.

This is the woman who cannot stand the idea of hospitals or doctors. I just have to know whats
going on, once and for all and I have tortured myself what it might be....

So pray for me that all goes well tomorrow and I'll look forward to your interesting discussions in the future!

All the best
Deb

Debdell - my goodness, it has been awhile honey. Sorry to hear about your digestive issues :-( I can say I know how you feel - speaking as a Ulcerative Colitis sufferer. It is good to see you back though and I hope you stick around for a bit! I'll certainly say a prayer that all goes well at the hospital and that you get some answers. I HATE hospitals too - and doctors, and tests, and most of what the allopathic world has to offer.

Hi Deb - Let us know how your tests went. Ulcerative Colitis is one of the two Inflammitory Bowel Diseases, the other being Crohns Disease. They are basically the same disease except Ulcerative Colitis is localized in the colon whereas Crohns can affect any part of the digestive system.
The symptoms are diarrhea, cramping, pain, mucous and blood in stool. The definitive test for it is through a colonoscopy (loads of fun!) Where the docs insert a very long tube with a camera on the end to examine the colon. They will also biopsy any ulcers at this point.
Unlike Irritable bowel, UC is a structural disease, you can see the disease within the bowel. In IBS, though many of the symptoms are the same there is no evidence of disease upon examination.

what tests are you having done?

Warmly
Barb

Hi Barb Thanks for your very clear explanation...

It sounds pretty horrific, you poor thing. Is there anything that you can do, homeopathically or other?

I had my Barium Enema x-ray today (very unhomeopathic). It wasn't exactly a party and Ive got a big headache now. But, as my homeopath says, my body will recover from it. I think even she wants to know exactly what we're dealing with now!

I've already had a gastroscopy (endoscopy), and a sigmoidoscopy (try typing that after a few drinks!! - which I can't have because alcohol upsets my delicate digestion )

All the best
Deb

If you don't mind my asking - what are your symptoms?

Typically I have an attack of gripping Abdomen pains with back ache and pains down inner thighs and into feet. Much like early labour or bad period pains.

It tends to come on before or after a bowel movement or after eating.

I also have problems with mornings. I wake up feeling a bit rough but within about half an hour I feel nauseous , faint and woozy.

Sitting down in a low seat is uncomfortable for me as I feel pressure on that lower abdomen area. As if there is something in that is cutting off the blood supply. So if I do sit for long I feel as if I am going to faint. This makes driving very hard.

I have a lot of wind in bowel and tummy area. Also in odd places: shoulder blades, neck ....

I have had to modify my life so much. I can't eat wheat or dairy. I can't sleep lying down (I sleep propped up).

I tend to feel better for warm compresses on lower abdo and moving about and stretching.

I'm feeling pretty ruff atm, must be all those tests.

The only thing is that the 'attacks' as I call them don't last forever, generally for about 2
hours.

Thanks for asking Barb, hope that answers your question.

Deb

debdell, sorry to hear you are feeling rough.

I saw your post on the other thread and would like to reassure you that bowel cancer is very seldom painful - pain rather contraindicates it.

Also, with those strong and detailed symptoms going on, you are treatable homoeopathically.

Over the next few days try to take it easy and only eat wholesome fresh food, to give your digestion a chance to recover sooner - some acidophilus might help with that too. And a lot of fresh juices - best to make them yourself in a home juicer for detox. But Barb is the naturopath...advice Barb?

Thanks Anna

Yes I will try and look after myself over the next few days, that's exactly how I feel atm.

Thanks for your reassurance about the bowel tumour, I worried about that in my darkest moments.

It would be lovely if I could be treated homeopathically, but I've struggled with it over the last year.

The problem seems to be that I am so sensitive to the remedies. I can only take 6c's or lower, which I generally dilute in water first. My homeopath doesn't think I'm strong enough atm for constitutional treatment. But I do take remedies palliatively, for eg. I took arnica after the tests.

It is very frustrating as I know how effective homeopathy can be..

Thanks for you input Anna it's lovely to hear from you all again.

Deb
