Hi guys

A friend has a kitten who was recently diagnosed with FIP, a fatal condition. I was able to find a homeopathic vet in her area and she agreed to see them (having no knowledge of homeopathy before this). She went there today and they are trying the recommended treatment. She asked me to ask everyone I know for prayers - so for those of you who don't mind, if you could take a minute and offer up a prayer for this little kitty - and for another homeopathoic "miracle" I'd appreciate it.

Sorry to hear about Sage....had him in my mind all day.

(I, too, have a "Sage". His brothers, Parsley and Thyme have passed on but his sister, Rosemary and he are still with us.)

the kittens brother is showing some signs of grief - needing lots of attention and "kneading" everyone and everything around him. Crying in morning for extensive periods. The owner has Rescue Remedy on hand and asked if she could put some in Blazes water dish - I said to rub some on his nose or paws so he doesn't keep redosing himself (not sure if that was good advice, I don't ahve much experience with BFR). I did suggest Ignatia as well but she doesn't have any on hand. Any other opinions?

Nat Mur is an excellent remedy for cats--because of the incidents of separation which seem to befall all cats. They are all separated from their moms (and make their human companions who feed them into surrogate moms) and all of them mourn the absence of their siblings and any companion at all.

I would suggest a dose of Nat Mur, at possibly a 30c if you have it on hand.

So sorry to hear about the kitten's passing.

Hi Barb,
Does your friend have Nat M or Puls available? Star of Bethlehem is a flower essence to consider. It is in Rescue Remedy but may be more specific to the loss, maybe. At least the FE's are easier to obtain at the health food stores and they do work, no matter what the died in the wool classical homeopaths say! (Do tell your friend to dilute any FE before using. Rescue Remedy is really for real rescue purposes and if used full strength, it is OK but the others should be diluted.)

But the best thing may be to simply hold the kitty and explain it all to him. Strange sounding, I know, but "discussion" with the non human animal works just as it does with we humans. (Could well be even better.) I always try to let the other animals view the one who died so they will understand that s/he isn't just missing or has left them of their own accord but is really gone through no fault of their own. Tell them to keep the kitty as near their heartbeat as possible, especially at night, for as long as it takes. Heart breaking, isn't it? Our little pygmy goat still goes daily to the grave of the horse she loved so much. I made sure she saw he was dead and talked to her at great length about it but she still pays her daily visits to and spends a lot of time "with" him. We humans have a long way to go to catch up, in my opinion.

gpm - that is so sad about the goat and horse. I saw a program once on the grieving of animals and it really was heartbreaking - elephants just sob and moan when a member dies.
The kitties owner would like to get another cat to keep Blaze company - they'll have to wait a couple of months to make sure he won't be passing on FIP if he is a carrier. Poor Blaze doesn't know what is going on - just that his brother is gone :-( I know he has been getting lots of extra love (for his sake as well my friends).
