Unhappy

I have recently found out that I am pregnant. I think to be about 6 weeks along and I have morning sickness that is so constant I have a hard time eating anything. I have not vomited but a few times, although I feel like it will happen all day long. It is not better with movement or relaxation. It does not get better with or without eating, although It is worse if I don't eat. I am plagued through the night and cannot get anymore than 5 hours sleep, and that is miserable when you are tired from the first trimester energy drop. I need something that I can take either throughout the day or once a day that will prevent it.

Some of you may remember me from the thread about anxiety attacks. In case not, I will try and describe myself shortly. I am a co-dependant person. I am very affectionate and giving. I often take things the wrong way and have a hard time trusting the ones I love. I had some trauma in my childhood. I like to be organized, although I am lazy about cleaning. I like to get things done NOW. If there is anything else, let me know. I wasn't sure if an explanation of myself was necessary.

I thought that Puls was the best described for me because of my personality, but all of them had a little of what I am going through so I am not sure.

Does the smell of food make it worse? Does drinking anything help? Belching help? are you desiring drinks? cold? warm? etc. etc.

Dear Somer,

First of all, does your health food store sell
Spearmint tea? I find it's a great nausea remedy.
Another herb tea that might work is ginger tea.

As far as homeopathy goes, we have few modalities here so far, other than < fasting, so I'm thinking of Anacardium which is listed under morning sickness and is a big low blood sugar remedy, so, all symptoms are better for eating.

Let us know what your tongue looks like, as in coated white, or clean, or "mapped", etc.

Yes, Barb's questions are very important. Let us know what food cravings you have, like sweets, chocolate, etc. What drinks your craving, their temperature, and whether you want them in sips or gulps--frequently or infrequently.

What's your pregnancy disposition like?

Is there sweating and dizziness?

Does fresh air help?

A particular position--better or worse?

Ok I will answer Barb first.
My nausea is kind of like when you have too much post-nasal drip in your tummy. Sometimes it is worsened by the burning sensation of hunger. Vomiting made it no better. There is no particular time that it is worse. It is all day long. The smell of foods and dirty diaper things make it worse. The smell of some aromatherapy makes it better. I feel the need to drink quite often throughout the day and sometimes I want cold (when not so nauseated) and other times I want lukewarm to hot when nauseated. I feel better right away and then it gets worse after it "settles". I am belching like heartburn throughout the day although the belches don't have acid in them. I am more gassy than usual. I have tried some ginger/peppermint tes and it works while I am drinking it but goes away after it settles. I have also used Emetrol and it works good, but I have to keep redosing.
Snoopy, my disposition the first day was scared (financially). I am now excited and have everything planned out already. I have had dizziness for about 3 weeks now, enough to give me those floaters in the eyes when I move too quickly. Fresh air helps a bit. My cravings have not been too substantial. There is no real desire for anything aside from relief. My tongue is coated, and that was something I first noticed about a week ago. It kind of worried me. My husband says that my breath is horrible all the time.
Oh, and there is no real pain in my abdomen except for the gas pains. I do have cramping that I have talked to the OB about and they have noted that it isn't anything to get worried about.

Hi Somer,
Congratulations on your pregnancy .

Just a suggestion for the heartburn (temp, quick and safe relief) while you are waiting for your remedy to be figured out (though I wonder if it's best to see someone in person - esp with your case as I recall it - and now the pregnancy).

Mix up about 1/2 tsp of ground cumin in water - stir (it doesn't easily mix with water so give it a good swift stir) and drink it fast. It tastes a bit bitter but it instantly relieves heartburn (boy do I remember the intensity of the heartburn whilst pregnant!). I used this when I was pregnanct because I knew it was safe and I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby or myself.

The other thing which is practical and so easy to do:
Sleep lying on your right side during those times you have heartburn. This helps if you are having any reflux or feel it coming up your esophagus. The reason is the shape, and position of the stomach . When lying on your right side - the contents of your stomach aren't as easily pushed back up. If you can get a diagram of your stomach - you'll see what I mean . I remember reading it was best for kidneys to sleep on the left side, but during those times I had unbearable heartburn which prevented me from sleeping - I would lie on my right side...and I always managed to gain some relief (alwasy woke on my left side ).

Hope you feel better soon!
Lisa

Hi
Just wondering how much liquid you drink at a time (sips or larger amounts) and how your body temperature is!
Thanks

Red face

When I drink warm it is usually in sips. Whn it is cooler and I do not feel nauseated, it is in a few big chugs. If I am not as nauseated the chugs don't bother me, but I HAVE to sip if I am nauseated.

Thanks about the cumin. My last two kids kicked my butt with the heartburn!

Dear Somer,

Have you tried Sepia? It's listed under "Pregnancy, nausea, constant" as a 2; mag-carb is also a 2, and the others I doubt that you have or have even heard of; so it makes sense to start with Sepia. Let us know if it or Mag-carb. works. Put pellets in water, take a sip. Save the water in case you need to re-dose; stir or succuss before redosing. If there's no improvement after 3 doses, a few hours apart, go to the next remedy.
