I can't figure this one out. My baby is 18 months and I believe she's cutting molars. I've taken the case several times and have had no success. She is irritable and everything gets on her nerves. She cries almost all the time, except when I hold her or have her sitting in my lap. I can't get anything done and am a nervous wreck. She's not drooling, no red cheeks or fever. She is a finicky eater - only likes sweets - which I give her occasionally just because that's all that she'll eat (she would rather go hungry than eat regular dinner food). Also, she doesn't like milk, although she does like cheese. I have tried chamomile, calc phos, and I think I also tried pulsatilla (this is over the course of about a month). She is perfectly happy once I pick her up or set her on my lap, which makes me wonder if it is something other than her teeth.
I can't think of any other symptoms - no birth trauma or anything like that. Her sleep pattern, and everything else, actually, is pretty normal. Thanks. |

Hi Roselin,
I sympathize with you. It can be really tough handling a little baby wiht that frame of mind and trying to get wok done too! I think you chose appropriate remedies. MAybe you could tell me whether she has any response to ANY of them, adn what potency did you use. Probably you need to use a higher potency or more repetition. Just one more hint, your baby could be reflecting your frame of mind in case you are breast feeding. I would hope that you have sometime to your self, when baby is asleep and give yourself a little TLC too! Whatever would make you happy. You could differentiate the above remedies again on the nasis of mental state or thirst or even stool as Dr PKSinha has suggested. But my best choice at the moment would still be Chamomilla. Warm regards, doctorleela

I also think that cham is often the remedy, and match the stool too as Dr PkSinba and Dr Leela state. You may need to go higher in the remedy and also find two more specific characterists symptoms.
At eighteen months she may have become very very aware that you might leave and not only needs to see you but be with you. Plunk her on your hip and carry her around doing things and have fun with her. She might just need a lot of reassurance at this time. A few suggestions, below. bry.3 and borx are possible. Will not be layed down benz ac. MIND - CARRIED - desire to be carried cham.4 bry.3 ars.2 chel.2 cina.2 kali-c.2 kreos.2 lyc.2 rhus-t.2verat.2 acet-ac.1 acon.1 ant-c.1 ant-t.1 aspar.1 bell.1 benz-ac.1 borx.2 brom.1 carb-v.1 carc.1 coff.1 coloc.1 ign.1 ip.1 mag-m.2 merc.2 podo.2 puls.1 sanic.1 staph.1 sulph.1vac.1 |

Thank you everyone for your input. Last night I tried 2 doses of calc phos 30x,15 minutes apart, then observed for 2 hours. No improvement so I tried 2 doses of kali phos 30x, 15 minutes apart. She seemed to experience an aggravation at first, then after about an hour, she seemed very calm and peaceful and actually played quietly all by herself. I picked her up and put her on my lap but she crawled off and decided to sit next to me instead (yeah!). Today she was fussy again so I tried another dose of kali phos but I can't say as I noticed much improvement this time. Then something occured to me that I should have thought of before. I babysit this little boy every morning for a few hours and my daughter is afraid of him. He is a very sweet little boy (2yrs old) but my daughter hits him sometimes and, naturally, he hits back. She cries and clings to me all the time when he is here - which makes sense - but she continues the behavior when he is gone as well. Upon reflection, I think her crying and clinging all the time started about the time I started babysitting this little boy (several months ago). I'm not sure how to look this up in the repertory - fear of being hit? As for her stool, it is brown and mushy, once in awhile she gets constipated but very seldom. As for potencies I have tried, I almost always stick with 30x or 30c, mainly because that is what is available at the store (I special-order higher potencies for chronic conditions). Thank you all for any additional input.

Dear avps,
Please see Chrisg's topic "Internet Prescribing". We've all agreed to stop answering posts with "Take ________." We need to give an explanation, repertory rubrics, something to give our choice some credibility. Why does this child need Cina? Snoopy |

Dear Rose,
Here's an interesting rubric: Murphy's Repertory, Children: hide, desire to, fear of being assaulted, on account of-Ars.(2), Bar-c(2), Bell(2), Cupr(1), Op(1). So, we basically have a fear of being assaulted, and Arsenicum is known for being a very clingy remedy that latches on and won't let you leave out of fear. Bar-c. is another remedy worthy of consideration--needy, helpless, etc. Snoopy [ 16 January 2002: Message edited by: Snoopy ]</p> |
