Dear Ricky,
dear Shirley, dear Shashi, Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my weekly report: The period is not over, yet. The blood was very slimy during the first days. My weight is somewhere around 92 Kilos but - because of the period - this may not be a reliable measurement. I am very, very tired and feel weak and drained off all energy. I did not physically exercise throughout the week. Yesterday I talked to a friend who studied Homeopathy. She suggested I should ask you whether it would be an idea for me to try Pulsatilla D 30 against the period pain instead of taking Ibuprofen. What is your opinion? Without your permission I will not try anything. I did find out that our tap-water does not contain Chlorine, so I can safely continue drinking it. Because of all the pain and the blood I did not investigate the vitamin D issue further, yet. Yesterday I was at the dentist. I lost a little bit of the enamel one of my lower front teeth two weeks ago - that was repaired by using some synthetic compound. Afterwards the tartar on all my teeth was removed once again. This still is a major problem. At the end of the procedure my teeth were polished and fluorided and only afterwards did the new assistant let me know that Homeopaths usually do not like this procedure. (My patient's card states that I am in Homeopathic treatment and should not be exposed to Menthol or Camphor.) Unfortunately the polishing paste tasted of peppermint and I can only hope that it did not contain any Menthol or Camphor. I know I am asking many questions, today. What is your opinion about fluoride to prevent cavities (by remineralizing the surface of the teeth)? Should I refuse this the next time?. They ordered me to apply a fluoride gel once a week, should I do that? On Sunday I will stray from the diet. This will be my 35th birthday and I will try to bake a Banoffee Pie (= concentrated carbs) for myself (of which I only want one small piece) and I will have Spaghetti - knowing very well that I should not have this kind of food. But I am only a human being ... and I shall return to the strictest form of the diet on Monday and not complain if there is more of me around on the coming Friday. I already feel guilty. Bettina |

Ricky... you might be interested in the following tidbit which was published in this week's Time Magazine:
"NO BONES ABOUT IT.. Regular tea drinking may strengthen bones, say researchers in Taiwan. After surveying more than 1,000 men and women 30 and older, scientists found that people who drank an average of nearly two cups of tea- black, green or oolong- daily for 10 years had a 6.2% greater hip-bone density than occasional drinkers. Scientists suspect that fluoride, flavonoids, and phytoestrogens- a few of the 4,000 health-affecting chemical compounds found in tea- may help preserve bone-mineral density." Wouldn't it be nice to reap such benefits, especially for post-menopausal women. Melin |

Dear Barb,
dear Ricky, dear Melin, dear Shirley, dear JVolkman, dear Frostbite, Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you so very much for all your beautiful messages. You made me very happy and my birthday was a wonderful day. I did not take Pulsatilla and I will describe the pain in detail when it returns. The dental work unfortunately had already been done when I read that there better should be no grinding and ultrasonic cleaning. Because of the tartar I am now on a three months recall schedule and I am afraid the ultrasonic cleaning will be done again. At present I do not know what to do about it because tartar is a problem and it can lead to much worse problems if it grows below the sulcus. Periodontal bacteria unfortunately to my knowledge is the same bacteria that infects the lining of the heart. So I am eager to make sure that there is no tartar on my teeth. This is my weekly report: The week was great till Thursday. My emotional state is in direct proportion to the performance of our boat. On Thursday we tried to go out and encountered new problems which we tried to solve yesterday. In vain, as we discovered today, but we have not given up, yet. Today we were out all day – even on the water - and as time went on our problems grew bigger till we almost completely lost ability to maneuver the boat. Fortunately kind people assisted us to get back on land, so tomorrow we can continue to repair. We are both just very sad, depressed, angry, annoyed and frustrated about this situation but at the same time we both know that it is only a piece of plastic and metal and we should definitely count our blessings and not whine about something like this. At least we were out all day and I did stay remarkably calm in spite of all the mess that we went through. (Ricky, I tapped on this before we set out). Now everything around me is rocking (this is the vertigo I always experience after being out on the water) and I have a hard time focussing the screen. And I have a sunburn (face and arms from wrist to elbow) – may I take Cantharis C 30??? I already put vinegar water onto the burned skin as soon as we returned home and after I took a shower I applied Calendula pure solution diluted with warm water. I can not really tell whether I feel the Thuja is still working inside me or not. There were a few incidents again this week when I lost my temper and on one occasion my friend told me to ask you whether I would be allowed to "take your medicine" again. He said, he noticed me returning to the unfavorable emotional state and I fear he may be right and it may even be in time-connection to my visit to the dentist. Maybe I should just wait a few more days and see how things develop. The screen is rocking badly – I will return tomorrow with a few questions on the new material that was on the latest link you, Shirley, recommended to read (Vitamin D and PCOS). If the vertigo grows worse I will take some Cocculus of which you informed me that it would be ok to take for me a few posts ago. The diet – I did keep to it this week except for Thursday evening when I drowned my frustration in chocolate. It did not help, though, it did not change the situation and only made me feel much worse a few minutes afterwards and again during the night. I read my weight on Friday morning and I may have dropped a few grams. I seem to be a little below 92 Kilos now. Bettina |

Cantharis is for blistering 3rd degree burns and I don't think that sunburn counts as that unless you really were very burnt!!! Try Aloe Vera gel or plain cold water on a wrung out piece of material and bandaged on the arm to keep it cool. I;m glad the tapping helped for the boat.
