This is a rough one, I gotta tell ya. Maybe some of the rest of you can help me out. There's no remedy that covers all the symptoms. The one that was closest, I thought, was Hepar Sulph.
It has cough from cold air. Barking cough. Choking cough. Breathing in cold air aggravates. Greenish discharges. Better for warm drinks. Splinter pain in the throat and cough on going to sleep. Try a 6C of this remedy every 2 hours, put 3 pellets in water--in a small spring water bottle. Shake before each dose--which is a swallow. If you improve, take less often. If no improvement after 24 hrs., let me know, we'll try something else. Snoopy |

aww, thanks snoopy for taking so much of your time to help me
i'll try to answer as best as i can. 1. the cough is dry, but not overly. my voice, however is considerably lowered in pitch as a result. and it goes out when the pitch gets too high; ie, if i try to say "really?" hoarse, might be a good way to describe it?2. the cough does seem to come on at certain times, now that you mention it. mostly in the morning after waking up and at night before going to bed. our apartment is seemingly VERY dry, and i wake up feeling quite sore in the throat. 3. to make it feel better, i usually just cough a few times and then it's calm for a few hours. but in the morning, it keeps coming until i've had a warm tea or some water. i've been drinking lots of water lately in the hopes that it'll help. going outside helps a bit as well. 4. i think the dry room that i'm in during the day brings it on. tho i do cough a few times every hour or two (or 3). nothing painful tho. it's most painful in the morning/night. 5. when i first cough it sounds ok, but if it keeps coming, it turns into a deep seal barking type cough 6. it does hurt a bit to cough, but not debilitatingly. i was only concerned because it doesn't seem to be getting better but worse. it's choking and hits in the throat and i feel it in my stomach, not the lungs/chest. it doesn't end in gagging. 7. thirst level hasn't changed, really. i make a habit of drinking as much water as i can, leisurely. 8. i don't desire any kind of certain food. tho a calzone would sure hit the spot right about now. 9. the chest is fine, the pain is almost completely in the throat and sometimes stomach area. 10. my energy is normal. 11. mentally and emotionally i'm ok. feeling stable and normal. in fact, somewhat cheerier than normal at times hmm...12. at morning and night my nose is quite stuffy and loads of expectoration (phlegm?) comes out, it's a very light lime green color. lumpy. 13. not sure what might have caused the cold. i came back from my parents' place for the holidays, and the weather was colder there than where i was coming back to. but i'm guessing i just breathed in too much cold air? does that sound silly? i think it occured to me once where i breathed in very deeply once on a cold winter night and ended up getting a bad throat the next day for a week. i'm a sickly boy. 14. as for other symptoms, just a runny nose at night/morn, sore throat, i have a bit of trouble getting to sleep at night (takes about an hour or hour and a half). plus the phlegm from my nose comes out a bit bloody sometimes. 15. nothing else is particuarly peculiar about this cough, but i haven't really felt something like this before. it's always been really overpowering and i would cough really hard. but this is just sort of there and goes away during the day and then resurfaces at night/morn. just a nuisance. thanks again, snoopy! |

Hepar Sulph is the name of the remedy that Snoopy feels "matches" your symptoms best. If you are new to homeopathy please see www.demystify.com and check out the free reading material there - it'll explain a lot. You may want to wait for Snoopy to respond but if I were you I'd go for the 30c potency and take a dose of that - in water. To take one water dose you put a pellet or two and dissolve in a evian bottle and stir well and JUST TAKE A SIP - Keep the bottle for further dosing if it is necessary BUT before taking other doses POUND the bottom of the bottle. AFter taking a dose of hepar30c wait and see if symptoms improve - if not you may need another remedy. If symptoms improve DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER DOSE UNLESS YOU FEEL SYMPTOMS RETURNING. Please don't be discouraged if the first remedy is not successful it can take a few tries to get the "right" one - see my thread "pink eye".] Barb

thanks very much, barb!
when i asked at the store, i was told that you don't take homeopathic remedies with water. judging by what you're all saying, she was wrong? so i should just drop a cap into a bottle of water and just take one sip and if it get's better, don't take anymore until i feel it again. sounds simple enough. you say one or two caps, tho, so it doesn't really matter? two is better? thanks again. |
