HI Nuno,

In that case, "running each other down" is they way things are going to be. Its only us individuals that can make make a difference at the individual level.

PS; I'm in a total rush too.

Dear Anna,

You are quite right by saying that there are some points that still need to be addressed through further research. I think I am at the stage now where I have become so used to analysing people in terms of the diseases they carry, that it is sometimes possible to identify the dominant miasm that a person has, just by looking at them. None of this proves the viral connection, but I will be surprised if the scientific findings do not turn out to be viral.

The issues that concern me at the moment are:

1. If 2 – 4% of the genome is viral, this will equate to thousands of viruses. There are many different homeopathy remedies available, but have we discovered all the remedies necessary to treat all the different viruses - I doubt it. It will take time to do this, so some hereditary conditions will remain untreatable until the correct remedy is found.

2. Over time, I am sure that some of the normal cells in our bodies have mutated to partially compensate for the effects of the viruses. I am wondering how our bodies will react if we now start removing these viruses that have been genetically handed down over thousands of years. I am sure that the overall result will be beneficial, but I am would also be willing to bet that we will find a few tricky problems along the way.

3. Viruses have played an important part in the evolution of the human species. I have mentioned before that the African is the most genetically developed race, as their bodies seem to deal with the effects of viruses better than other races. I am wondering whether their bodies evolved in this way specifically because there was a higher presence of viruses in Africa. If so, what will it mean for our future evolution if we now begin to remove viruses from our genetic constitution? I don’t think we know enough to be able to answer this question, but this is probably THE most important issue we need to understand BEFORE we begin wide-scale genetic treatments – homeopathic or otherwise.

4. There was a time when I wondered whether treating genetic viruses homeopathically would not simply accelerate the development of a super bug, as is happening with anti-biotics and bacteria. The key question here is whether homeopathic remedies actually succeed in removing the microbial parasite (bacteria, virus or prion), which is something that anti-biotics fail to do with bacteria. If the removal is effective, then I don’t think there is a risk of further mutation, but this is something that needs proper scientific analysis.

5. I am also concerned about the effect that the recent cloning experiments will have on viruses. Currently, the entire genome is being cloned, viruses and all. None of the scientists has yet been able to explain what effect the cloning procedure has on viruses. If it aggravates viruses, this will increase the chances of the cloned person developing serious illnesses in later life. It could also lead to the creation of someone with serious behavioural and personality disorders. As these problems may not become evident until that person has reached adulthood, what do we then do with these imperfect people that science has created? If they are a menace to society, it hardly seems fair to confine them to a life in prison because science chose to dabble prematurely in the genetic process.

This issue is made all the more complex because genetic cloning is seen as an option for infertile couples to have children. Now the reason those people are having fertility problems to begin with is due to viruses - the sexual and reproductive organs are just as susceptible to viral interference as any other organ of the body. By ensuring that only the healthiest people reproduce, the fertility problem is just one of nature’s ways of ensuring the survival of the species. Now medicine is taking the genes of these people with a higher than average viral content and subjecting those genes to a radical treatment that could aggravate an already difficult viral situation. These genetic manipulations are only making a bad situation worse. To my mind, it makes far more sense to treat the viruses that are causing the fertility problem to begin with and then letting people conceive naturally, when their bodies are healthy enough to do so. This process should not only be better for the parents, but it should also lead to healthier and happier babies.

These are some of the thoughts and questions that I turn over in my mind and can’t begin to answer because we don’t have the scientific information available to form an opinion. I know what you say is right and I still need to cross the first hurdle and get the scientific evidence to prove all this. When that happens, I honestly doubt it will turn out to be anything but viruses.

As far as raising the funds is concerned, I have approached almost everyone you can think of, including a member of the Royal family. I sent them a brief letter outlining this topic. They were interested and tried to help by suggesting a few alternative medicine organisations I could approach. Unfortunately, most of these organisations are very under-funded and aren’t really in a position to deal with a request like this. It would be nice to follow up on the initial interest, but I wouldn’t really want to become an imposition.

I would be interested to approach the Margerie Blackie Foundation. I did a search for them on the internet, but they don’t appear to have a website. Do you know where they are based and how I could get hold of them?

Regards
Nuno
