My little Maddie woke up today with a bad, yucky case of pink eye. The symptoms are: watery eye - tearing(not sure if tears are acrid or bland but she doesn't seem to be too bothered by them) It is the right eye and right nostril has some mucus and is a bit runny too. White of eye is very red and bloodshot. The eyelid is half closed - the affected eye looks much smaller than the other one. There was dried green and yellow crusties in the morning but now it is just white/yellow globs sticking to the inside corner of eye. Eyelashes look wet and sticky. The outer eyelids are a bit red/pink/purplish too.

She seems okay otherwise - not crabby or whiney. This eye thing came out of the blue - she was fine before bed last night.

I have a tincture solution with a combination of 6x of euphrasia and 6x of bell and 6x of merc - I did wipe her eye with this tincture not too long ago.

I do have euphrasia 200c dry pillules - can I make a solution with this?

Please advise - it looks awful - if hubby sees her he is gonna want to take her to the pediatrician because it looks soo yucky.

thanks bunches

oih I forgot - it does seem to have a yucky, pus-like odor. - it reminded me of the smell my dogs ears used to get when they got infected.

HI BArb,

Its always a good idea to wash the eyes frequrntly wilth water, and if you dissolve a bit of Euphrasia 30 in it, its better.

I think the smell of the discharge is significant, and so you should consider either hepar sulph 30 or Merc sol 30, seeing which remedy covers most symptoms as well as generals. The only thing going against Hepar is the apparent painlessness, whereas Hepar is hypersensitive... in that case Silica may be indicated.

Try and find out some more general symptoms to decide. Reaction to warmth and cold, thirst, tongue coating, etc

Warm regards,
doctorleela

PS: Always good to have it checked up if its not responding to a remedy in 24 hours.

I only use Euphrasia to wash out eyes in Mother Tincture form when you use one or two drops in an eye bath. If you are disolving a pillule in water in which you wash the eye it contains sugar which I don't really think will do much good!!!

Never had a problem using potency in pillule form in water for washing eyes, Ricky. And just a few small pillules in that much of water, the sugar is totally insignificant. So don't worry at all.

Barb, Do keep us updated on what finally happens. I'd love to know.

Warmly,
Doctorleela

PS: Joy, that's an age old secret you've stumbled upon. ACONITE acts on almost ANYTHING if given early enough!!

Thanks Joy

I am thinking of trying Puls as it seems indicated in many of the symptoms and she often responds very well to Puls with other acutes BUT then she usually has the characteristic whiny, clingyness.

She just woke from her nap and there was dried yellow crusties all over that side of her face. Her eye is quite swollen and red looking :-( Red on the outer lids too.

she is acting normal. It looks like it should really be bothering her but she isn't rubbing it at all.

Maddie woke today with the othereye infected too. :--( The first eye might seem a bit better than yesterday though (although itis hard to tell and I might just be comparing it to the other eye now)

BUT...I have a modality...when we went outside today she immediately closed her eyes very tight and put her fists to her eyes. I thought it was from the sun (it is very bright out today) but she said it was cold (it is very very cold). She did this evrytime we got out of the car and in to the cold air. soooo, any advice? The symptoms are pretty much the same. Very glassy, watery eyes with gobs of white/yellow mucus that turns a green, yellow after it dries and gets crusty in the corners of her eyes. Eyes are bloodshot and eyelids are red too. They do not seem to bother her at all.
