Well, we must be idiots! Nux vom. is a "2" in "Eyes, conjunctivitis". And Nux vom. is < for cold. The other thing is, we get ideas in our heads--"Oh my daughter's not a Nux Vomica!" We have remedies we "like" and we have prejudices against others!

It just goes to show, just when you think homeopathy's not gonna work, it's really that you just haven't found the remedy. Keep looking.

And by the way, here's an important lesson. You gave how many remedies before Nux Vomica, Barb? There are those who would say, "Don't give a remedy if you're not sure!" "Don't keep giving remedies, you're gonna mess up the case!" I have to say, this is pretty much the way my acutes go. I give a remedy, and it's the wrong one; I give another remedy and it's the wrong one; but I never give up! And when I finally get the right one, it works like a charm, just as Barb described.

Glad it's over, Barb!

Snoops - GM had a list of a few remedies but decided on Nux because it started out of the blue in the night.

You are right we do have prejudices - I would never think of my sweet sweet Maddie girl as a nux in any way and she certainly wasn't acting "nuxy".

Oh Geir also said that from his list of possibl;ilities the other remedies would usually show mentals in the case but not necessarily nux.

ah - everything really is a learning experience.

although the ecchymosis has me FREAKED - I need a remedy!

Barb,

Try Aconite! And Nux Vomica is listed as a "2" under Eyes, Ecchymosis--if I've spelled that right
(I'm too tired to look it up). So, either the ecchymosis will improve from the dose you gave, or you may have to give it again. (In water this time, so you don't antidote what's already acting.)

Good night, Barb....(We need a gremlin with a yawn!)

I have to add my pink eye story, because it is how I got hooked on homeopathy 22 years ago. I had a wicked case from breaking out the plaster in a ceiling infected with 250 years of rat droppings. I felt like I had glass shards in my eyes, and that drove me to our new doctor, something I had to be desparate to do! I knew he was into some alternative stuff, but that was all I knew. He asked me a bunch of completely irrelevant questions, and then said, "I believe it's pulsatilla." Imagine how shocked I was thinking I just had conjunctivitis!!! What horrid new disease was this pulsatilla? Well, the next thing that happened was he put some tiny pellets under my tongue, and said he'd be back in a couple minutes.I sat there and felt the most amazing sense of relief pour over me. It was like my whole outlook changed in a mere couple minutes. Sure enough, when he came back in 5 minutes the pain was gone. My eyes remained scarlet for a couple days as they healed but the pain never returned. I have been devotedly hooked ever since. A-T

Hi Barb,

I'm delighted that GM helped out! YEs we don't often think of Nux Vomica for the eye. In my opinion it may be a GENUS at the moment and hence would work for most conditions in this weather. ITs an acute... no need to involve Maddie's personality in this!

Don't worry about the echymosis. Thre are typed of conjuntivitis associated with certain viruses and bacteria that present with these symmptoms and it clears up in time. Nothing to be alarmed about.(That's how we know which virus or bacteria is involved).

IF one ahs to do something after a few day's yes either aconite or arnica is a good choice.

Again, I'm really happy for you.
Warmly,
doctorleela

PS; I'll get back to you on email.

Dear A-T,

Just out of curiosity, do you remember if your eyes were ameliorated by cold applications?

Hey AT

Great story

AT's story reminded me of something with regards to the rat droppings. A few days before the pink eye started Maddie was playing with our pet Guinea Pig and she pooped (the pig - not Maddie) and maddie picked it up. I washedher hands after I noticed this but who knows if she had rubbed hereyes before that.

Do you think???

As to my pinkeye, it was a long time ago, and I have often wondered if we would have picked Puls again, since I love fat and going outside was out of the question because I had so much photophobia. But none of it mattered, because Puls and I like each other, so it worked regardless. What I remember is the excruciating feeling like glass shards in both eyes, and their psychedelic and very alarming scarlet color. And I couldn't open my eyes for the pain.
