by the way - my eyes are starting to feel just a little itchy and watery - could be psychosomatic but should I try a dose of aconite?

Should we go with Lyc.? Starts on the right and moves to the left? Meanwhile,Barb, when I caught Shana's Pink Eye, those Optique eye drops by Boiron got rid of it fast, it was like a miracle, I thought I was doomed!

What temperature application does Maddie want against her eye?

HI BArb,

I'd say, wash frequently with Euphrasia, and a couple of doses of Sil 30. (The shift to the other eye is expected.)

ALl the best!

I did give a couple doses of sil but itdidn't do anything.

I think we are gonna end up with allopathic drops :--(

She is napping now.

Lisa - She isn't itching them at all - just closes them real tight when we go out in the cold and also does ask to have her tears wiped when they get bad (but she doesn't like tears on her face anyway so there is no way to tell if they are burning or not)

are there any other symptoms she is experiencing?? Only red, puffy/swollen eyes - with oozing?
from Boericke:
Apis is Better open air; cold bathing; uncovering.
Worse heat in any form; touch; pressure; late in afternoon (okay maybe apis ain't it?); after sleeping; in closed and heated rooms. Right side (so maybe).

Under EYES:
Lids swollen, red, oedematous, everted, inflamed; burn and sting. Conjunctiva bright red, puffy. Lachrymation hot. Photophobia, Sudden piercing pains. Pain around orbits. Serous exudation, oedema, and sharp pains. Suppurative inflammation of eyes. Keratitis with intense chemoses of ocular conjunctiva. Staphyloma of cornea follow supperative inflammation. Styes, also prevents their recurrence.

Sounds to me like it apis could help (maybe)..I'm thinking .

Another thought:
Barb just because she isn't whiny, clingy - doesn't mean Pulsatilla isn't indicated... prescribe on what is present - not the other way around. I was looking at the beginning post again. Is the mucous still happening? What colour, etc??

But of course, I certainly understand it is hard when it your own child. I can't see the forest for the trees when my babies are sick!

Night night,
Lisa

HI Barb,

This particular conjuntivitis just runs it's course. Did you say the R eye was worse? Was it better in between? For the moment, keep washing the eyes, that's the best thing.

IF she's not improving, one has to keep the allopathic drops in mind, as they work really fast.... and its her eyes. (unfortunately they are steriod based - but don't let that deter you).

Certain conjuntivitis don't respond easily ( I have seen that), and when the conjuntiva looks so frigntheningly red, it needs a lot of courage to ignore that.

warmly,
doctorleela

PS: I wouldn't encourage you to try too many more remedies. 24 to 30 hours is a long enough wait.

Well, I have to give credit where it is due here - I posted this on Geirs site as well and last night gave a dose of Nux Vomica and this morning little Maddie woke up with no discharge, crusts, tearing, etc. at all!

I did notice last night before the remedy was given that she has now got large areas of what looks like blood in the whites of her eyes - it is very very scary looking, what is this called ecchymosis? It is only in the areas under the lids.

So it appeasr that Nux did the trick for this one - I was actually nervous this morning going into her room to get her out of bed, fearful of what she might look like so imagine my joy when she looked sooo much better.

Will keep ya all posted on the ecchymosis (whatever it is called)
Barb
