Not by my books - Is there a rubric for fear of signing one's name in public? Sounds like arg nit or lyc or something but don't know.

Barb I don't know if you remember I also raised the question some time ago in Feb 2001 and Snoopy gave me some valuable suggestions. Those were also seconded by others. I used Arg. Nit 200 and few months after Arg. Nit 1000 taken. I could not see that much effect I still have same fear of signing important document of course in public.
I also tried Thuja 200 few months. One dose for each month. I am still believing that fear will go completely. You have to work against your fear too. It is a kind of General Phobia or Social Phobia. I am looking some permanent cure. Let other members contribute. Cheer

Sayed, are you still having trouble signing your name? I thought of you when I read Barb's post. In fact, every time I sign my name from using my credit card, I think of you. Has Thuja helped you?

hi barb:
Is the person fearful of signing in public because he is scared that someone may forge his signature and he may loose some wealth? Fear of Poverty. or Fear of being cheated or Lack of confidence

Snoopy It is great to hear from you again. I have tries Thuja 200 for few months taking a single dose monthly. It did not help much. I still have same fear or feeling that i am going to screw up my signature. At that moment either I feel nervous or fear my hand stops for a second and shakes eventually signature is distorted and flow of signature is lost. It looks like as if I am forging my own signature. Some one who is going to check would question the authenticity of signature. I don't think it is lack of confidence. It is more close to Phobia. I also tried Ars. Alb. 30 for few days taking a dose daily. It is also not helping. I am keeping my mind positive and confident that I will get some permanent cure. I believe thinker would get some answer out of it. Cheers

Dear Sayed,

Now I get it! You sign so slowly, it looks unnatural and raises suspicion and this makes you nervous that people think you're commiting a crime!

I looked in the repertory under Delusions, crime, about to commit; and there are 2 remedies:
Kali Bich. and Kali Brom. Kali Brom. is a very guilt-ridden remedy. Kali Brom has a keynote of fidgety or restless hands, wringing of the hands, must keep the hands busy, or, better when the hands are busy. They may also have strong religious feelings.

Kali Bich is known more for thick mucus discharges, which the patient is more likely to complain about than the mentals.

The other thing is, under "Delusion, crime, as if he had committed", there are many more remedies. But, I don't think the past tense applies in your case. I think it's a guilty thought you have before beginning to sign your name. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Then, there's delusion that he is a criminal, and again, there are about 10 remedies there and without further info about yourself, we can't narrow these choices down.

Here's a crazy suggestion, have you thought of signing with your opposite hand? It might be sloppy, but people's signatures tend to be sloppy anyway. Your problem isn't neatness, it's slowness to the point of stopping. Switching hands might break the pattern you're in--using different parts of the brain, perhaps.

I was asking about rubrics because I was on a discussion group for anxiety sufferers and there were sooooo many people who had this problem to the point of it totally inhibiting their lives. It just struck me that so many people felt this.

Pehaps by looking at the other features of the case you may be able to discover a remedy - what about generals, other fears, sleep etc?

You really need at least 3 reliable symptoms to choose a remedy. On its own this symptom is open to some interpretation because it is not in context. Pehaps by getting some perspective in the person's life might help - when did it start, what other things in does Sayed feel nervous in, how is he with performance generally, what other issues exist in his life, what traumas etc ?

Kali-brom is an interesting choice because it has the symptom "Trembling of extremities when he has to do something" single symptom 3 value. Whenever I have seen them, they have big issues with sexuality and morality, ingrained in them from their parents.

Kali-bich has does have some mentals - routinist, hate doing anything out of the ordinary, goes by the rules, goes into details, must have everything on a regular basis, conformist. The element of Chromium gives it an issue with keeping up appearances, hiding unpleasant things, embarassment, appearing "nice" on the outside, vanity.
