I also find I get so much information by seeing the person in the flesh that paper cases seem very flat to me.

It was a reference to Nativeson's descriptive term for the evil spirits which reign behind the miasms. It also refers to a psychics description of the streptococul(sp) bacteria that was invading her son. It appeared to her as a green monster that she was wrestling with to save her son during world war II when there were no antibiotics around.

jfw: The Green Monster is also known as ENVY. Everyone has their own interpretation. Around these parts when one is told they are "very green eyed" or the "green monster" has arrived or taken over - it refers to envy.
