Petunia - your post popped into my mind today as I was going off to visit my daughter, who is away at college......I was remembering her as a small child.............Have you asked your Dr if you can bring a special stuffed animal into the recovery room with you, or a favorite blankie? (might not be able to because of the "germs"...but maybe a brand new one that is not all ragged) I remember my daughter telling me how scared she felt when she woke up in the recovery room with all the sounds and smells. I was "allowed" to see her after (how long was she awake with no one with her?) she was in recovery.....then she was moved to her room and I was "allowed" into her room. I remember how terrified she looked - I wish I knew then what I know now - I would have picked her up and held her and be damned what the "rules" were. Don't be afraid of what the nurses think of you.........if your child is used to having you there in times of crisis - do what you think your son needs. Good luck with the surgery - I know a child who had the same surgery and she is wonderful and walking and running...to see her run, no one would ever know she had club feet.
