Dear all

My wife is extremely susceptible to mosquito bites. Her arms and legs and lower back are covered with them; they are red and very itchy. She scratches them, and then they become pustular. Meanwhile, myself and our baby son are more or less unaffected. Apis 30, taken occasionally when the itching is particularly bad, helps a bit. Ledum (externally) makes the itching worse. The mats you use in electric things don't help, nor does citronella. A three day course of Staphisagria 30 doesn't seem to have had any effect. Any thoughts on how to treat the bites, or more usefully how to prevent them, would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks. Will try Caladium. Just the one dose? Is the idea to relieve the itching, or put the mosquitoes off? Or both?

On vitamin B, I think we probably get enough from our food, but I'll certainly look into this.

This is the first time I've posted anything in this group, and its very encouraging to get such quick and positive responses. Thank you.

Toby.

I can't remember where I heard that sometimes high doses of all the B vitamins, like 50Mgs or l00 mgs a day. Esp. if she doesn't get those in her normal diet.

Dear Toby,

Yes, 1 dose.Wait and see. This will be only pallitive ; yet the 1 dose may cover a 'good' span. The problem is the repetitive use as a mosquito inhibitor. I surmise that she is not a 'smoker'; so there ought not to be any adverse effects from "calad", (increases itching).

It would be better if you prescribed for her as a totatality ; rather than just mosquito susceptability ,(though ,mosquito susceptability is a good guiding symptom; especially if VERY pronounced); And use "Sweet Basil" as an external inhibitor, (fresh 'rub', 'essential oil' dilute spray, or home-made spray from fresh plant).

With such allergies you may also want to find out if she has ever had a severe reaction to any plant. If so, Rhus tox is an excellent remedy, especially when she gets relief from moving about or changing her position every so often. Due to her severe reaction to the mozzies, I would not recommend anything higher than a 30c, possibly lower, like 12c.

I find that urticarea cream applied topically helps the itching. I also take some away with me if in mosquito ridden places.

I don't know if this is an old wives tale, but did anyone else ever hear of the idea of cutting back on all foods containing sugar to reduce circulating blood glucose for this problem?

Dear Ben - apparently (and I never knew this before!) my wife does have a kind of allergy to grass, 'tho not severe. She gets itchy lumps on the bit that's been in contact, and they go away when she gets off the grass. Does this suggest anything to you? Thank you.

This is in regard to suggestions to avoid mosquito bites-high vit b12 levels &high cholestrol levels are known to cause more bites so do not take Vit B at night. For itching & bump try Urticaria urens30 t.d.s.
Have u had a c.b.c done?if so what is the eosinophil count?
