about a week ago my son's gland under his jaw began to swell. I was told to give him silver. I haven't seen any improvement. How long before he gets better or at least for the swelling to go down? I am very concerned about this since his uncle had lymph node cancer.

Get him checked out by a conventional doctor and if he gets the all clear then go to homeopathy. By silver do you mean Colloidal Siver or homeopathic silver.

Colloidal Siver

Well the swollen gland appeared quickly, and son doesn't have fever, and the gland is not hard so, I think (mom dr here) that it's just an infection.

in cases that are from throat up and appear rapidly , look at Belladonna. But swollen glands are often silica - is patients stubborn ? or Tuberc - is patient easily bored , pointed chin , long fine eyelashes?. or is patient untidy has a bowel motion 1st thing , dry skin , hot feet in bed - use Sul 30 or 1m .

The gland could be an enlarged salivary gland due to an acute infection or blocked duct.
Silica is a good suggestion.
But get all the modalities/concomittants, and give him a good remedy.
