The antibiotics are to protect the dentist!! They tend to give them automatically these days just in case they cause an infection. On this site somewhere is a Homeopathic dental website. You will probably find somewhere on this site a place to pose your question.

Just a short note to Ricky here re the prescription of antibiotics before dental work: people with heart problems, including Mitral Valve Prolapse, are more susceptible to bacterial damage than normal. Because the underlying dental problem may release bacteria into the bloodstream during dental work, antibiotics are given to anyone with MVP before dental work. The consequences to the heart in such cases if unprotected can be serious.

THANK YOU KATHE, I hear what you are saying also. However, the person has to feel right and have faith in what they are deciding on.I had surgery on nose and they found and removed a polup that was in upper sinus cavity. I chose not to take antibiotics but used Silica tablets and Echiniaca tincture in my nose and temp went down and all went well. (I did have to order the Rx to satisfy the Dr.s feelings, but never used them.)

Arnica is the best prophylactic before any
dental work. It takes care of the consequences of surgical trauma and prevents
any infection. It must be given before & after surgery.

thank you Dr. Taji, i always take arnica, as i dont let them give me injections for pain, when doing ordinary dental, and also take ignatia to help relax. for root canals i have to let them give the injections much to my regrets. if i should need surgery in future, i wont even tell dentist i have prolaps and just do the hepr sul. 2 days before, then before i go to dentist take arnica, ignatia. what do you think of that plan.?

In classical homeopathy it is always advisable to stick to one remedy. The basic principle is to prescribe one remedy which clearly matches qualitative symtom complex.
Since this a discussion forum and everyone has freedom of expressing their views, I can not say don't take this or that.
I shall write just for the sake of discussion. If you feel hepar-sulph is a preventive against pus formation or infection
then why not silics or calcarea sulph. Well, then it can be any remedy. This shows it is very difficult to prescribe a remedy on minimum information. Same is true for Ignatia. Those patients who belong to Ignatia will benefit otherwise there are remedies like Gelsemium, Argentum nitricum and so many others which help patients belonging to them.
For Arnica there is a clear case. Any dental work is a sort of trauma to the organism. Sensitivity to trauma is a very important indication. Filling or root canal work or trauma to gums or bleedig with soreness due to any tauma or swelling with hematoma with sore bruised pain indicate Arnica.
Moreover any infection after trauma can be taken care of by Arnica.
The whole idea is to take one remedy and that too a correct one.

thank you Dr. Taji, i did not mean to take all, was looking for best to fit the situation and personality. have no dental problem now but getting info to read up on so when time comes i will have it ready. do know that i have one rootcanal that has a slight infection, 2yrs. ago wanted to do gum surgery to get into it to clean it out. i did not care for that route, no pain or anthing so let it ride longer. if it bothers me might just remove the tooth, as i dont want gum surgery if i can help it, at 82 just better to pull it out as its a back tooth. thanks agin, very much appreciated.
