My wife is treating her clinical depression with homeopathy. It has been her saving grace, but it's taking some time. It might help to contact folks who have had some success. Any lists or links?

I must admit that I don't know the difference between clinical and other depressions, but I consulted a classical homoeopath nearly 2 years ago when I recognised that I had become depressed. I decided to bypass conventional medicine, having pursued homoeopathy with my 2 children and liked the approach taken.

My homoeopath advised that I have counselling in conjunction with the treatment.

It has been a gradual process of improvement, but I must admit that the first 6 months were painful, as I recognised and released emotions that I had suppressed since childhood.

The fog gradually lifted and now 21 months later, I have enough energy to live my day-to-day life spontaneously. I now have to take care that I don't over-react to certain situations or surprises.

For me, homoeopathy has been the key to unlock my emotions and allow me to live a different life.

Best of luck to you.

to lotusland You asked about my wife's symtoms. She endured several years of sexual abuse in high school. She covered her pain for a couple of years, but eventually had a complete breakdown when she was 20. After 2 months in a hospital, she slowly moved out into the world. We met when she was 23, and she was very troubled, but determined to cover it up. She developed psycotic coping mechanisms that carried her untill our son was born 8 years later. Seeing through her dilutions was devastating, and her depression set in. Her brain just shuts down, and she can't function. After much councelling and various alternative treatments, she is currently on Paxil and homeopathy, the latter really helping her progress. She is getting much better, but it is so slow. When her brain is shut down, she takes her remedy and can almost immediately feel her brain coming to life. She says the juices just start to flow. But it doesn't last, and she doesn't always come out of it that easily. Also, she switces remedies as needed, but isn't always quite sure where she's at in that respect. She makes many after hours calls to our homeopathist. I hope that is an adequate summary. We would welcome your comments.

I am also a victim of abuse, and spent many years in severe depression. I am a great lover of homeopathy, heading in the direction of a career in it. However, I do want to mention that my first treatment for depression was acupuncture, and it was very effective and rapid in it's effect. The deep sadness I felt was gone in days, never to return for more than a few days when I would have an adverse experience. However, I have continued to experience difficulty with concentration until this time. This approach may be more rapid for at least some aspects of her depression.

As some of you know, I have been ill from a reaction to tetanus toxoid and now am left with the angioedema. The pain i my knees is excruitiating at times, and my husband says I become a "mud puddle" wanting to do nothing more than sit and cry or stand up and cry. Anyway, this is all to say, my phisotherapist gave me Sepia (she calls it "weep-i-a") and I can tell an immediate difference. I still hurt and I still want to cry, but I don't. You might ask your homeopath if Sepia is her ansewr also. Good luck. Depression (or anything that effects your mind) is so hard to treat (the patient can't really tell you what is bothering them and how they feel or even what triggered it) and it seems that any kind of illness is slow to heal (I am going into my seventh month with this--I've said having a baby was not this difficult). Keep us posted and we'll be interested in her progress. Has she tried bio-feedback or meditiation??

I see natrium mur symptomes here, is that the remedie she is given?
Also, progress is slow, when using allopatic medicines, or progress in most cases are blocked by allopatic medisines.

I've also come through depression with help from homeopathy. Now I feel one important thing I learned is that depression can mark an important passage that will bring many insights and much growth... it's not "just an illness to get rid of". In this respect, it can also be seen as a stage to welcome, not just an illness to fear and shun. Homeopathy helped me not just "get over" or "get through" depression, but learn from it and move through this passage. I really don't think any allopathic treatments can do more than numb you (or "cheer" you) to get you through the days. It's a long road with homeopathy, but one worth taking. I was also recommended to combine homeopathy with therapy, although I didn't finally have therapy. I think homeopathy itself is therapy, certainly when you are seeing a good homeopath.

I hope this comment may offer a very slight consolation or encouragment to someone.

I need some advice for treating my depression. Can I do it alone or should I counsult a homeopath? It began with a flue-like Illness about 7 years ago. I have improved since then, and the symptooms have changed, but generally I continue to have depression, fatigue, and anxiety. I tried working with a homeopath once, spending a lot of money over along period of time with little improvement. Any advice would be greatly welcomed, especially from people who understand this illness.

I will just say again that the relief I got from acupuncture was rapid and permanent. It took care of my deep sadness thoroughly, but I still have other symptoms, such as poor concentration. However, I never told the acupuncturist about that, or he may have treated that too.
