What is the best remedy for insomnia. Usually it is a matter of my mind wanting to think about things. I have used coffea crudea but unsure if it is ok to use it on a regular basis. I also bought a combination insomnia rememedy. I cannot say any of these always work.

Thanks for the help. I am usually able to go to sleep (not always though. I do not drink anything with caffeine after abut 4pm (I usually have a cup of tea between noon-4. I eat very carefully also. I usually try to be in bed relaxed by 9-10pm. I generally fall asleep by 11-12. I am often very tired but sometimes as soon as I try to sleep I am wide awake! I have been practising concentrating on my breathing to eliminate thoughts, seems to help. BUT when I wake up at 3-4am I get concerned that I will not go back to sleep and I KNOW that I am my own worst enemy with this fear. It has happened - and I will not go back to sleep and am exhausted next day.

Dear Anet,
I suggest 1 dose "IGN" 30C or 200C at around 6 P.M. If "IGN" gives you results and lose it's effect , then please POST back before you take it again. The same applies if there is no response. Do not get in the habit of taking any remedy repetitively. Best to find a more permanent solution. Oh yes , if any questions as to why , then please feel free to ask. You may want to wait to see what others here on the post have to say. Still, my suggestion is "IGNATIA". Please post back you results. Are you in a perimenopause age group? You could also fill in other things about yourself such as food likes and dislikes, problems with heat or cold intolerance, current symptoms, anything that helps pinpoint your type.

I am post-menopausal, the problem did start with menopause, I do not take hormone replacement therapy, prefer to do things naturally. I am hypothyroid and take Armour thyroid. I have a problem with anxiety/panic disorder but again treat naturally with God's help. I cannot stand heat at night, like to have windows open (in cold weather) but do have cold feet, I generally fare better in cool weather. I juice vegetables and eat a mainly vegetarian diet using organic produce, my health is really very good. Hope this helps, thanks again.

Thyroid is the main problem ........many thyroid patients do not sleep well and wake up tired then they get classed as ME sufferers .
However after menopause failure to sleep also is often resolved by St Johns Wort ( Hypericum ) it worked for me in a few days |

I assume here that Pat is talking about herbal hypericum, not homeopathic. (Correct me if I am wrong.) You may want to get on natural progesterone (see Dr. Lee's book: What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause.) You would need a higher dose than in the over the counter cremes, so you would need to see a naturopath for it. You could also try strengthening your thyroid with Thyroid Glandular and take kelp. Of course, thyroid glandular is not vegetarian, but it is more natural than Armour. Another thought is to take Adrenal Glandular to strengthen your adrenals, as they help take over making female hormones after menopause if they are in good shape. Stress depletes them, so we could all probably use some of that! B Vitamins and C help there, too. As for remedies, could you list your food preferences by taste, not by what you know you should eat? And one more thought, consider Arnica 1M and Aconite 1M for panic. Arnica tends to say, "Leave me alone, I'm just fine." and Aconite has a fear of death associated with it. If that is not sufficient information you could go to www.lyghtforce.com and go to the Medicine Garden articles to read about Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. They have an extensive discussion on those two remedies for mental use there.

NUX VOMICA x200 one dose before bedtime.
The mildest you can use is Avena sativa essence. JS suggestion was not so far away, as ignatia contains some of the components found in Nux -v. Remedies that fits the waking houers, is:amm-mur, arist-cl, caust, kali-bi, kali-c, med, Nux-v. Taken the rest of your picture into considderation, Nux is the first and best choice. If to choose another remedie, more info is needed, in case this dont work, but i feel it will, The cronic of Nux is Sepia. ------------------ Homeopat MNNH Geir E.T.
