I have searched the search engine and see there has been some discussion on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, some of it seemed valid and some of the people giving advice I have great doubts about when they say "this or that" causes the illness. No one knows that!

I became ill with a very severe viral infection 18 years ago, I experienced some recovery and then relapse after relapse. Five years later, I was diagnosed with CFIDS or ME as some of you know it. I "treat" it mainly with first a major readjustment of lifestyle, expending energy and effort just to the point to try and not have a worsening of symptoms and generally I've gotten pretty good at this after 18 years experience.

Nutritionally, I take standard supplements for this ailment, which includes Fibromyalgia as well. Malic Acid and now the new Encada NADH seems to be helping my stamina somewhat. One of the most debilitating aspects of CFIDS for me has been severe migraines, I have at least 3 or 4 a month, some last for days. Some have visual scotoma and most do not. I take Imitrex to help with the worst, but would love to find out if there is a homeopathic remedy I could try for these.

I am new to homeopathy, though I've been doing my homework and have a pretty good understanding, but please remember my level of understanding is as a beginner.

Thank you in advance.

Homeopathy could help you a lot but expect it to be long term. We often say one month's treatment for each year of the illness. Find yourself a professional classical homeopath who will take a full case history and prescribe a remedy for you as an individual rather than a disease name. Well done for considering homeopathy

Rochelle, thanks but I'm going to have to treat this myself, trial and error. I live in a very remote area, no doctors in our end of the County. My MD is a long ways away and I only get to him about once a year. As you can imagine long stressful trips make me feel much worse. A homeopath is much further away, so I'm left with trying to educate myself, which is what I've had to do with CFIDS from the start.

I certainly realize homeopathy treats a disease and not just a symptom, I hope what I've given can give someone an idea for me to try. Thanks again for your kind remarks.

You absolutely -cannot- trial and error try
to heal yourself and should not. What holistic means is that it is the "whole person and whole body" and every person and everybody is different. So while, one remedy may work for some people it may not for others (apis doesn't work for me while rhus tox does and they are not even supposed to be interchangeable). You absolutely -must- find a homeopath you like or you will end up like the blind guys who tried to describe the elephant by feeling it.

Great, I won't waste your time here anymore, though I do wish someone would please tell me why other posts have gotten answers to questions, like what is usually used to treat migraine or fibromyalgia?

Thats because you have not given us any symtomes at all, you have given us the doc diagnosis, and it him we treat anyhow, its you.
And that we cant do, if you dont give us your sensations, time, periodicity, where symtp are located, where they go to, what they feel like, hot, burning, cold etc, reactions to heat, cold , food , enviroment and so on.
For instance, migraine, if need to lie down, quiet, in the dark, amel, thats about 8 remedies, and we have to compare this with other symptomes, because it is only one of these who will fit you.
We have over 2000 medicines to choose from, and the one you need has to be "tailormade" for you.
But from your posts, i get a feeling that it could be calc carb who will help you.

Hi again Dorrit! It really is pretty impossible to treat yourself when what you need is a constitutional rather than an acute remedy. You will find that remedies are suggested on this BB mostly to people who have an acute problem. Even homeopaths see other homeopaths for constitutional treatment. I only treat my own acutes. But as GM suggests if you give us, Sensation, Location, Extensions,Modalities, Concomitants and possible Causation we may be able to help you. If you have basic homeopathy books you should be able to find out how detailed the answers to these terms have to be.
