My niece is recently pregnant and is very nauseated. The nausea begins upon arising, when she immediately vomits yellow bile. She remains nausated all through the day. She is hungry and can eat, never vomiting food afterwards, only bile. The smell of coffee, spices, garlic or odors caueses vomiting. She is very sleepy, breasts sore under the arms.
She tried Ipecac 30c, three doses, at the recommendation of a friend but received no relief. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Kathy,
With the little bit you have described, as long as your neice is in early pregnancy....she fits the normal healthy initial reaction of the body to pregnancy as described in Guernsey's Obstetrics.
More symptoms would be needed to determine if she needs a remedy...soda crackers, rest and time may be the best thing for now.... Denise

The book J writes about really is a good idea.

However, let me just say this: Vomiting bright yellow mucus has only one remedy and that is
Kali Bich. My daughter had this symptom once and Kali Bich. cured it.

What are her mentals? Is she weepy, clingy and pitiful? Is she depressed and in a rotten mood?

If her mentals are different from usual, that's an important consideration in finding the remedy.

The main remedies for morning sickness, if you want to just try them, are: Sepia, Pulsatilla, Tabaccum, Nux Vomica and Colchicum. Give the remedy in a 30C three times a day for a day and after 24 hours if no improvement is seen, it's probably the wrong remedy; move on to the next.

However, no need to repeat the remedy if the previous dose has started to work. Just wait, and repeat only if improvement stops.

Don't repeat if there's an aggravation.

Here's a bit of info:

Tabaccum: severe sinking feeling with sweats, nausea and dizziness.

Nux Vomica--feeling as if "hung over", toxic. Irritable, sensitive to light and noise.

Pulsatilla--Weepy, pitiful, wants consolation and help.

Sepia--Nausea at thought or smell of food. Nausea in morning before eating. Sinking feeling.

Colch.--Sensation of icy coldness or burning in stomach. Stomach pain . Flatulence. Nausea at thought, sight or smell of food. Yellow vomit.

Consider also Veratrum alb. which vomits yellow mucus and would be quite prostrated with cold sweat on forehead.

I hope this gives you a few ideas.

J., I've sent Castro's book to my niece. She's very open and will soon be educating me.
Snoopy, your recommendations are a godsend. I'll discuss the symptoms with her and let her decideon the match. Thanks so much. Kathy

Kathy,

That's true. Ginger tea or spearmint tea.

Sliced peeled ginger left to sit in boiling water for a few minutes then sweetened with a little honey always does wonders for me when I'm feeling nauseated. It is very warming and also very soothing.

Generally, I'd stay away from any mint family plant tea during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester. Many of them are abortifacients.

Dear avps, Thank you. This is even more learning for me. I had never even heard of Symphoricarpus. We have ordered it. All remedies have failed so far. I truly hope that this is a match.
I thank all of you who have been so gracious and helpful.
