Question

My cholesterol level was high at some time. Dr adviced me to leave meat, egg and other items. I left them for at least one year. But my cholesterol level did not come to normal value.

Recent days, I ate too much every thing including eggs. Yesterday I checked my cholesterol level. It was normal.

I can't beleive.

What will be the reason?

Please suggest some precautions for mainting the level and also some generl homeopathic medicines for this disease.

Cholesterol Levels are very reated to the diet that one has taken just 48 hours before taking the test. Also one has to be fasting at least 12 hours before blood is collected for the test. A change in this will cause some fluctuation in the measured level.

Generally it ia good to avoid oily food, fatty food like Bacon, pork etc. Yellow of eggs contain the cholesterol, but an egg a day never really hurt. Butter and cheese too could be cut down. You'll find all the instructions in a diet book, so I need not elaborate.

Specific Homoeopathic remedies are tinctures like Crataegus Mother Tincture taken regularly. No need for you to take anything if your report is normal. But you could do a check every 6 months to a year and keep a track of it. Good to know the entire Lipid Profile though.

Warm regards,
doctorleela

I was just going to post about the 12 hour fast before the test Dr Leela.

It's amazing how many tests are done without this fast . Some patients have been on conventional drugs for years and never had a fasting test!!

I know I had mine done both after a fast and not and the difference it made was remarkable!

But isn't it funny how the 'conventional advice' on dietary changes doesn't always pan out when it comes to cholesterol levels (the 'bad' cholesterol, I mean).

Eat avacados; according to one study - it brings down the 'bad' cholesterol. (I personally did this and mine returned to normal within 12 weeks a few years ago). They also say oat-meal lowers it.

I don't buy into the 'meat, egg, bacon, butter thing' though...why not? Because I've been eating along the lines of the Protein Power book - and my cholesterol is fine (heaps of eggs, meat, chicken, olive oil, sunflower oil, very few grains, bacon, butter- all the 'bad' stuff - and some good!)

Anyhow, I think it isn't so clear cut and 'convential wisdom' seems to forget we're all individuals with different susceptibilities and there is no 'one fix' for all.

Try some variations in your diet - and see how it goes.

I've heard stress plays a huge role as well (as it does also in Diabetes).

Try not to worry too much about the numbers on those tests! AND, make sure you do a proper fasting test as suggested above or the test results are inaccurate and useless.

Lastly, just be sensible with your diet and get good Homeopathic care .

All the best,
Lisa

dear dr leela,
do you mean Crataegus Mother Tincture helps reduce Cholesterol Level. Does it act on the triglycerides/HDL/LDL or all three favourably.
Any pathological status is to be considered before prescribing it.

Difficult to tell what it works on as I'm sure it is different for different patients and the interpretation of the lipid profile in response to the medication will have to be made individually.

It worked on tryglycerides for one patient but not on the LDL and the interpretation for that was related to the hepatic function that needed correction. Just to give an example.

Regards,
doctorleela

Olive oil (1st cold pressing extra virgin,) like avocados, reduces cholesterol. The reason you can diet carefully (meaning avoiding eggs, bacon, etc.) and still have high cholesterol is because it is made in the body. I suggest reading the Protein Power book to get a good understanding of it.
