Hi Karin,

I am certain that all forms of diabetes, even juvenile diabetes, are treatable with homeopathy--however each case is absolutely individual and unique, and success will depend on many different factors--such as your ability to prescribe on the totality and find a similimum, as well as eliminating any obstacles to cure. This last part may be difficult to do in the case of juvenile diabetes--but it ought to be tried.

So, just follow Hahnemann's outline in the Organon of Medicine--as you would for any other patient you would treat homeopathically.

Apply the Law of Similars
Use the minimum amount of the drug
Individualize your prescribing, and prescribe on the totality of the case (not the disease name)
Monitor your results using Hering's Law of Cure.

Like I told you earlier Karin,
In my opinion Juvenile daibeties needs to be treated with the constitutional remedy and proper Insulin Dosage, with very carefully monitored sugar levels. Most often, the insulin requirement reduces with the constitutional and this needs to be adjusted. Besides of course other improvement on the M?E leve etc. I think judiciously prescribed specific antimiasmatic intercurrents/nosodes must be considered as well.

I did work on a case, which I mentioned to you too. But unfortunately that was so long back that I cannot remember the details. But the girl(15 years old) was significantly relieved of all her other symptoms related to the diabetes and the insulin requirement also reduced. Her constitutional was Phosphorous, and she was admitted to our homoeopathic hospital in Diabetic Ketoacidosis under the Consultant MD (Medicine) attatched to our hospital. As I was his house man, I was managing the Allopathic treatment as well, which by itself is also very difficult to handle - dosages for the ketoacidosis etc (at least it was for me). I remember not sleeping for a week!

He allowed me to prescribe homoeopathy alongside for her, and she improved very well, enough for him to remark on the improvement. But these cases are difficult at the best of times mainly due to the vigilance required in handing them.

I think Barb has posted a case here called "Four year old boy" which is a child with Juvenile Diabetes. You will see the problems involved!

Warm regards,
doctorleela

Hi Divina & Dotorleela,
Thank you for responing.
I know that we have to treat the constitnal and not the disease itself, what I was looking for is to find any usefull infomation that will help me understand what to accept when treating children with this pathology.
can we 'only' help with the cocomitent symptoms (this is good by itself)or can Homeopathy completely cure, which means that the pancreas cells will be able to work again and produce Insolin.
I'm trying to get information for some time and unfortunately I could'nt find any case records of Juvenile Diabetes, treated with Homaopathhy and completely cured, does it mean that maybe this patology is uncurble?

I'll be happy to hear from you again...

Well, it could just mean that the documentation of this kind of treatment is not plentiful.

It could be that, after insulin was "discovered" and became the conventional treatment, homeopathy was already being heavily suppressed--in North America, anyway.

But every case is individual--and who knows? In some one, it may be possible to treat and have the pancreas be able to produce insulin on its own (I feel hopeful when I read Dr. Leela's experience of reducing the need for injected insulin in some cases). Perhaps the chances for success are increased if the patient is treated early...its an open question at this point. All I can say is that you're in an excellent position to do the work and publish your experiences. You may be able to do what others have thought to be impossible.

I hope this turns out to be the case. Oh, and having a conventional doctor working with you will only make the documentation that much more "believable" to other doctors. Good luck to you!

Hi Divina,
Thank you for being so optimistic, I really needed that.

From the way I see that, Homeopaths don't like to treat people that have 'incurble diseases' is that their ego or what?

Are we doing that so we could say that we have hight % of success or we are here to help people the best way we can with the tools homeopathy has given us?

Maybe I'm being naive and I'll understand it netter after few years of practic but for now I don't get it.

Anyway if I won't find case records, the Juvenile Diabetes Union in Israel will not let me work with them and it's a shame, finally after I tryed few unions and nobody bothered to even respond my offer, the J.D.U has opened a door for me and I think they will close it again.

I 100% agree with you that I'll need a medical doctor working with me and I allready asked one to join me, he finished his medial studys, got the degree and now studing homeopathy.
he's got lots of passion and motivation to do anyting and everything so if things will go in the right way he will join me.
I'll keep you informed....

Barb, thank you and I'm waiting, whenever you have time....

Karin

Hi Karin,

I am afraid your patience isn't going to be rewarded as I don't have much info to offer other than what was posted on my thread. As you know the patient was a 4 yr old boy who was diagnosed with juvinielle diabetes at 9months. I finally talked his mother into trying homeopathy and a half an hour after trying one remedy his blood sugar levels dropped pretty low. His mom almost called the ambulance. He recovered quickly but over the next few days his levels were unstable and he tended to have some frequent lows. This scared mom and she gave up on homeopathic treatment. There was no amelioration of other complaints. To be fair though, this childs case is very complicated and diabetes is not the only issue. His diabetes tends to be unstable as well, where his sisters diabetes is much more manageable. I am very sorry I couldn't offer any positive feedback and I hope you are able to get the info you need.

Warmly
Barb

Hi Karin,

I'm afraid you may have an incorrect impression of homeopaths and "incurable" diseases...

The truth is, homeopathy is often the ONLY thing which will cure "incurable" diseases. However, you must remember there are huge politics around medicine and treatment. Though homeopathy can and does cure when applied properly (many patients who undergo treatment will tell you quite easily--they were cured of diseases they were told would be chronic and often fatal--or that they had no more options with conventional medicine: in fact, that is the great majority of the patients homeoapths see), it is not often that conventional medical doctors or institutions will allow homeopaths to try to treat.

A recent demonstration of this, I'm told, occurred in New York City when the World Trade Centre disaster took place. The New York School of homeopathy is located very nearby what used to be the WTC--and the students and faculty quickly organized and appeared on-site of the disaster to treat people for wounds and shock. They were not allowed to treat anyone, and were physically restricted from working with any of the victims because homeopathic medicine simply is not conventional medicine. ONLY conventional doctors and paramedics were allowed near the survivors. Can you imagine how much benefit could have been brought by just a little arnica, opium, aconite, and ignatia, just to name the typical remedies one could use?

A similar situation may have existed in terms of the treatment of diabetes--remember, as I said--by the time Insulin was "discovered", conventional medicine, backed and controlled by growing pharmaceutical companies, had already pushed homeopaths into obscurity. This doesn't mean they weren't interested in treating patients with this disease--it means THEY WERE PREVENTED by both legal and political means. Where many diseases are concerned even today, these same restrictions apply (cancer treatment is one disease I know is legally restricted to conventional means in the USA. In Canada, non-conventional methods are still considered "quackery", and it is not unusual for institutions to step in to legally block treatments with alternative medicines for this disease. Patients must be determined--and that's not easy to do when the illness is so active).

One suggestion I would like to offer is that you become a member of a mailing list which includes the participation of many homeopaths worldwide. The lyghtforce mailing list has about 2000 practitioners on it--someone may have some information for you there. To subscribe, go to:

www.lyghtforce.com and click on the mailing list link--follow the directions to subscribe, then email your request to the list at homeopathy@lyghtforce.com.

Finally, perhaps you can negotiate with the institution you plan to work with--if you patiently explain the situation regarding casework (who knows if they will even accept the case documentation of homeopaths as valid?), and structure your work with a doctor who is willing to work with you, then perhaps you could actually create work that will end in a much better result for you, the hospital, and your patients. I like to believe that people are not so rigid, once they are led to reason and are offered a choice that may be more suitable to their ends as well as your own. Let's hope something like this can be arranged--and that you will have some success with the lyghtforce list's members too.

Much luck,
Divina

Hi Karin,

I did a quick search on homeoint.org for any historical cases of diabetes insipidus or melitus--and found one in Kent's works:

here's the link:

http://homeoint.org/books3/kentclin/cases03.htm#BM38

It is a case of diabetes melitus cured with phosphorus--which I know is not the same as juvenile diabetes, but may be useful nonetheless.

The search yeilded 243 or so different sources--about 200 of them were remedy entries in Clarke's Encyclopedia of Materia Medica. Each of the remedies turned up in the search were used to treat diabetes successfully, some were used to treat juvenile as well as melitus or type II.
These cases are very old, but may still be useful to what you're trying to do.

Hope this is helpful,
Divina
