Scholten has a description in his "Homeopathy and the Elements". I don't have a copy (yet), nor have I used nat-caust, but if you're interested in lesser used mineral remedies, I feel Scholten's book is worth purchasing.

You're most welcome Felix.
In answer to your question... Dunno - haven't studied his method really. I just have the book. (I bought all the books on my booklist for college but haven't read them all yet ). But it is just another method, I think, isn't it...and my gut instinct at this point says to make darn sure that one is sticking to the Principles if trying to apply a new approach to prescribing. Personally, I think it focuses a bit too heavily in the Mental dept, but I wouldn't dismiss it completely (i.e. never throw the baby out with the bath water!). Maybe try to find other MM info on Nat-Caust so you can have a variety of info to peruse ....good luck!Lisa

Hi Felix,
I have used Scholtons methods, and found them extremely useful. The guy's mind is brilliant. I have made some excellent prescriptions with definite clinical results based on his "speculations" and extrapolations. The important thing about his book is that it gives one a direction of thought, even though most of it does need to be substantiated clinically as well as proper provings done. But it at least provides a framework as well as an idea of interpreting what could be the possible pictures of very unknown remedies, especially salts and minerals. I would imagine in time, most of his work will be substantiated with adequate Clinical information and that which is not too clear will be modified by him appropriately. I agree with David, "Homoeopathy and the Elements" is worth purchacing as well as his earlier book, "Homoeopathy and Minerals". (I have both.) Brilliant + book!! I tend to go to it when I can't find a remedy with any other means. I have tried some really unusual remedies like Osmium and Nitrogen, based on his mental pictures . They have not cured but have moved the case on to other remedies and improved the patient. David Kempton is the expert on Scholten.

I've just got Homeopathy and the Minerals, I'm going to have to save up a bit for the Elements! I'd been flicking through our library's copy and found the huge number of new remedies really interesting. Does he neglect the animal and plant remedies as a result, though? Or is he doing a similar thing with plants, as I think someone mentioned here?

Homeopathy and the Elements is about the elements of the periodic table. Scholten is doing more with plant families, etc. as well. He said in a recent interview he's not as inclined to be writing about animal remedies, feeling that Massimo Mangialavori is already doing some very good work there.
