can someone tell me if anthracinum can be taken to prevent inhalation anthrax? i bought some at 7c strength just to have on hand..dont intend to even touch it until I have consulted a homeopath because I have no knowledge of homeopathy...but Im just wondering if I bought the right strength and if I should even bother taking it as a preventative or if its only good as a remedy? thank you so much for your time and consideration !! mlyn80215@yahoo.com Marta

The most reliable information I've heard is that Anthraxinum is more specific to the cutaneous form of Anthrax.

That's what I've learned, too: the cutaneous form of anthrax has different presenting symptoms, so the remedy will not be similar to any of the symptoms expected from the inhalation form.

To date--3 "cases" of Anthrax throughout North America, one of those not even confirmed. The other 800 million or so of us remain free of symptoms.

If this ratio still happens to inspire fear in you as you read it, you don't need anthracinum--you need a remedy for disproportionate anxiety or hysteria.

People really need to focus on what's happening around them while this fear is being stoked. There are plenty of truly destructive, cynical and horrifying things taking place in the US--and as a result of US war policy--that are going completely unnoticed because of this hysteria.
These things will cause far more suffering and damage than any amount of American made anthrax spores in post offices.

The actual damage that will be caused by these "overlooked" events will demand more pressing concern from homeopaths than anthrax.

I guess it all depends on how you look at something. Since the two NJ "bundling" offices that are so contaminated with anthrax are the ones my mail comes out of or goes through, the problem seems a little more serious.

Sorry to admit that I haven't been keeping up with the news about anthrax and have no answer as to how many confirmed cases there are either locally or nationally. I only meant to imply that there is a lot of fear in our area due to proximity.

My greatest concern about anthrax is the hysterical use of Cipro and other antibiotics as "preventative".

My personal feeling is that anthrax should be no where near the top of our worry list. I am, however, very concerned with citizens willingly relinquishing rights in the name of fear. I think somewhere in the area of 700 people are being held as "material witnesses", without being charged for any crime. This has never happened before in the US, to the best of my knowledge. Combined with talk of changing rules for interrogation of suspected terrorists to allow a little torture......this is really scary stuff.

Anthrax provides a nice distraction from the above and other more important issues, in my opinion. The upshot (again my opinion), will be public support of the current administration to open up for oil drilling anywhere, anytime and the loss of rights.

Thanks to everyone for the advice; my own feeling is that there is a difference between vigilance and paranoia. When and if the anthrax threat becomes real, I do not want to be put in the unenviable position of having to rely on my government to get aid to myself and others in a timely fashion. I am simply trying to learn the basics of treating myself homeopathically in case I need to save my own life quickly; yes, there are many other threats that are far more insidious and far reaching than the unlikely occurrence of an anthrax epidemic. So now that I have my anthracinum tucked away in a safe place and I know how to use it, thanks for listening and I will get about the business of tending to the here and now.
