HI,
In Canada they are talking about different ways of sterilizing mail. Chemical sterilisation would be a hazard to postal workers, so that's probably out. What kind of irradiation are we talking about, anyway? Some people think that the x-ray machines in airports don't do any harm, which I always believed to be the case. Can't wait for more info! Irradiation destroy's film and it is a form of radio active bombardment. I thought strong smells could antidote the remidies I would think this kind of energy bombardment would alter the remidies effects if not antidote them. Some people belive that the effects of irradiation on food is increassing the rate of cancer. The mail and package transport indistries will have to come up with alternative meanes of moving sensitive items.
Looking forward to hearing an official word on the issue.

Irriadiation destroys the medicine, it is true. That is the reason why medicine is supplied in coloured bottles. Even if the coloured bottle is exposed to the sun light for a longer period it will destroy it. All those Alfa,Beta and Gamma rays will do it. So you can deduct that all type of irriadiation is bad for the Homoeopathic remedies.
Homoeopathic remedies contain only the frictional charges of the substances they are prepared from and are made in alcohal because alcohal can boil at the room temperature, that keeps your remedies in good potentiesed state. Would like to learn more about it though.Let's see what others have to say about it

Hi Everyone,
I received a response from a learned Homeopath/Pharmacist and here is the information:
quote:
This is a question that has been much revisited over the last few days and I don't have a concrete answer. From discussions with people far more knowledgeable in these things than I, some interesting points come to light. In the US they are talking of irradiating mail with X- or gamma- rays using food irradiation machines. These are of similar power and energy as airport x-ray machines (and are actually unlikely to kill anthrax if you look at the microbiology of the organism, but that's just by the way !) >From my own experience, I know that remedies are unaffected by being x-rayed in this way (I have taken remedies overseas via airports many many times with no change in effectiveness and international mail has been routinely subjected to random x-rays for years), so I would be hopeful that there would be little effect in this case. Perhaps over-hopeful I admit, but in light of no research evidence being available, this is the best I can do at the moment.

On the whole, I guess I'll try to get my remedies by other means - but will try at least one or two through the mail and see if it still works or not. Of course, I realise if it doesn't 'work' it could be other factors, such as - the wrong remedy, etc....so....sigh. Lisa
