My eight year old nephew the other day over dinner told me that he find the pointed fish bone scary, he doesn't like to look at them and hence finds it difficult to eat the fish. on further probing he told me that other pointed objects like paper pins, knife also makes him uneasy.
He is sensitive and cries easily when he falls, he is frightened to enter dark rooms even if someone is in the next room with lights on. He is also very scared of insects. Infact his parents wood keep plastic insects next to expensive crystal in the drawing room, so that he will not touch them.
When he came to stay with us from abroad, he developed Hives. Both his eye lids were swollen. I administered him Apis Mel and that worked like a charm on him and he got well in 2 days.
About 2 weeks ago, he complained of severe itching on his penis. A dose of sulphur and he was well. but what has reappeard is a croup rattling in the chest with no expectoration and the mental symptom explained above.
Phataks' rep has a rubric: Fear for Pointed objects where Apis is one of the remedy. i wonder if i should try a dose of 1M. Silicia i guess should be ruled out as he is not chilly and likes to sleep with the fan on with bed covers thrown off.
request your valued opinion. i will be glad to furnish any more info.
warm regards

A single dose 30C apis should be able to tell you the same thing, but nat-m runs through all 3 symptoms which you posted. It would help to know if one of the parents shows the reserve, etc. of nat-m.

HELLO DAVID,
Thanks! for the reply.
i forgot to mention that the child passes urine interminently. i:e he stops every now and then as it pains him.
Another point i like to mention is that he is hyperactive kid, very restless.
He got some hives on his forearm yesterday, so i did administer him Apis 30C and the hives were better in the morning.
what actually i would like is that the temperament of the child improves.
and David, could you please explain what you mean by "It would help to know if one of the parents shows the reserve, etc. of nat-m".
regards
vally

When you use the rubrics fear dark, insects, and pins, nat-m is the only remedy which has all three of these symptoms. It's also a remedy for sensitive children.

It also covers the physicals, although they're not so specific, eg., urticaria, frequent urging to urinate, etc.

Restlessness is a large rubric, so it's a question mark re: nat-m. If one of the parents has a 'nat-m personality', sometimes you'll see some similar tendencies in the child. If you see nat-m fitting one of the parents, then it could give you more confidence in trying it for the child.

You could try a single dose nat-m 30C sometime in the future. It's not the first remedy one usually thinks of in restless children, but it may still be indicated. Again, if you see nat-m in one of the parents, that could support giving it to the child. Apis is obviously able to help for the time being. Apis is not under fear of dark or fear of insects, so if these continue in spite of giving apis, nat-m could be worth a try.

Hi Valerian,

If this were my patient, I wouldn't do anything for the time being. I'd suggest waiting until some of the currently improved mental/emotional symptoms return, then repeat the nat-m single dose. The pain from the heels to the head is a 'nuisance' symptom, but may resolve on its own as the child's constitution continues to move into better balance.

Regards,
Dave J.

For Apis to work it is important to avoid salt and Nat. Mur is chronic of Apis keep it in mind.
If the boy has got a craving for salt or for salty things then it is Nat.Mur.
