My young friend, 23, very upset about the attacks on new york..took 30c ignatia. The next day her right eye began to get very red in far right corner. The lid was swollen. The next day her head began to hurt on the right side. Says its the worst headache she ever had..right temple, right eye..hurts to move her eye..throbbing pain in head. She went to doctor and he said it wasn't her eye..something in her head. He gave her pain pills (which she must take every two hours)and told her to come back in a couple of days and they would give her a cat scan.

I suggested 6x ignatia. Didn't help. She is a little better when she wakes up in morning..but it gets worse throughout the day into the night. Sensitive to light, noise and there is a some nausea . I asked her how she could possibly go to work with this pain and she said..."I need the money".

It sounds like bryonia to me...but I don't want to suggest it in case this is way out of my league.(if its just a migraine...can migraines affect the eyes like that?) She and her boyfriend broke up a couple of weeks ago. She took nat mur last fall...self diagnosed...and while normally she would be crying alot...she isn't this time.

She is worried and is thinking it might be cancer because there is cancer in her family.

I just found out that she has had this headache since the attack on new york...and that was why she took the ignatia..so she has had this headache for a week.(I thought it came after the ign...)

Dear Carol,

Bryonia seems like a very good suggestion, and it covers the symptoms you described. I would like to confirm it with great thirst and dryness of mouth.

But considering the causative factor, Arnica 200 could also be a good choice. I would give Arnica first.

Warm regards,
doctorleela

Arnica for the shock is a good idea, also consider Aconite and Opium.

The problem with giving Ignatia routinely is that it somtimes suppresses the grief or shock and causes other symptoms. I have seen exactly this effect from Ign, the headache , the eye symptoms.

She went to doctor and he told her she had arthritus of the eye..he said it was a concomnitant of other problems(she recently had a bad cough). She also has varicose veins. He said it will come and go.

does this change anything?

Dear Carol,

I'm not too sure of that diagnosis, but the doctor who sees her would know best. Does she have this sort of thing often?

The main thing though, is that this came after the Shock of the WTC Crash. Also that she said she needed the money( a realization of financial loss), and was going to work. the < from motion is a modality of Arnica. It (arnica) will certainly have good effect if this is arteritis.

Warm regards,
Doctorleela

Aconite is well indicated for many regarding the WTC.
Fearful, on verge of collapse, where death has been violent or terrible & relatives/witnesses go into shock.
also fear of dying, anxiety, panic attacks & anger.
It is often overlooked as a shock/injury remedy, with people reaching for the Arnica first.

David...wouldn't it be better to give the arnica first, anyway, because it is also an antidote to ignatia? Or isn't it necessary to antidote it under these conditions...the acuteness?
