I was wondering if anyone has had any success or heard of any successes in terms of helping people who are trying to kick certain addiction. In this case the addiction is to alcohol. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, elise

I refrained from answering earlier, as these cases are really tough to handle. They require enourmous support and counseling and even if they want to take the remedy, their addiction keeps going on.

What is better is a setting where the alcoholic comes in for counseling, praying and detoxification himself, to an inpatient setting attatched to AA (Alc Anon). We have one such in Mumbai and Goa (for alcoholics and drug addicts), which is run by the Church and one of my Professors was attatched to it. There also was a Pcyciatrist and numerous voluntary workers who were ex addicts themselves but now straight. They understand their problems easier.

I remember this doctor prescribed constitutionals along with any acute that come up as a phase remedy. Avena Sativa and Quercus have a good effect as Ricky suggested. I followed the same line of treatment. But I find it very depressing.

Regards,
doctorleela

Hi folks

I`m new to homeopathy and find it really fascinating. Are there remedies to help with nicotine addiction? I`ve got a pretty bad family history of different cancers and have tried many times to quit. I realise that willpower is the main assett here but anything that would perhaps help?

Yes I have had a recent success using homeopathy prescribed for the person in this case carsinosin 10M+ Avena Sativa (helps the withdrawal)mixed with Quercus (puts people off alcohol) both in MT + EFT (see emofree.com) as I am now a qualified practitioner in this. The patient has now got a job, is getting up in the morning and finds that a glass of wine makes her feel terrible therefore she would rather do without it. Now this case did need a lot of management and support at the beginning with frequent high potency dosing. Thsiwas not a simple case since there was also long term OCD involved.

There are remedies to combat nicotine addiction namely Caladium which makes cigarettes taste disgusting in many people and Tabacum amongst other. However I have had no success with this because the patients have just stopped taking the pillules because they would rather smoke!!!

Somewhere results I think it was Shirley but I stand to be corrected gave an excellent recipe for potenising the smoke from the cigarrettes that you use which is also meant to work.

Personally I have heard that hypnotherapy does work on this and I am waiting for the next person who seriously wants to give it up to try EFT techniques with!!

Dear members,
can anyone who knows the Los Angelos area personaly reccomend a homeopath for Elise's friend?
Dear Elise,
it's time for you to see your own practicioner again; you need your full strength, & please if you can, remember the mistakes of your friend here, that love & rescue is a damaging business. Love, Louise.

Question

I am wondering if there is anything that my brother-in-law could take to help with the symptoms of heroin withdrawal. It has been one week week since he has taken heroin and he seems to be managing pretty well - he has been staying with my husband and myself who have been with him 24 hours a day. He says the worst thing at the moment is that he cannot sleep at night - he is a very restless person both mentally and physically and he said he feels very chilly - he comes up in goosebumps. He gets tired during the day and is often yawning. He is very underweight but since tstopping drugs he has been eating loads and the improvement in one weeks is vast (he was also suicidal last week on the night before he came to stay with us). He seems to have an addictive nature and I am trying to get him counselling . he started gambling at 14 years old then turned to drink and then to drugs. I know you can't treat him over the net with such sketchy details but I just wanted to know if there was anything that would help him sleep -

Many thanks
Linda
