I am very interested in studying homeopathy more deeply. But, I will soon be leaving my 'urban' home in San Francisco for a much more 'rural' life in Nevada City, CA (it is ~1hr outside of Sacramento, 2 1/1 hours from SF). So, here is my question...if my intent is to eventually practice homeopathy are there any 'distance education' schools available that offer a complete and quality education? I have heard of The School of Homeopathy in Devon, England and the Caduceus Institute in Santa Cruz...any opinions here? I assume I would also need clinical experience and would need to find a homeopath (who was willing to take me on) in my new area? Just looking for some ideas about whether or not this will be possible for me. If I was to stay in SF there are 2 schools here, but it is highly unlikely I will be here in a year. Thanks in advance, Celine

Well, that's not a reason not to start at the local school, if that's a good school-- you could always continue your studies via distance education. The local school in your area may even offer such training now, as so many schools and students are equipped to study this way.
The Devon School has a pretty thorough course, too--and the fact that its well established often means you can find study groups close to home if you ask around. They'll be helpful to you if you're the type of person who benefits from the interaction they can provide.

Hi rain,
Many, if not most, of the homeopathy colleges offer on-site instruction once a month, usually over a 4 day weekend period. This accommodates students with other full time employment as well as students not living in the immediate area. The Hahnemann College in Pt. Richmond, CA near SF offers this plan. It's run by Roger Morrison, Nancy Herrick and Jonathan Shore. They also offer a distance learning program. Details can be found at www.hahnemanncollege.com |
