Hello all. it's been quite a while since I've been here, and thankfully, it was due to good health. However, that too has passed. :\

For at least a week now, I've been suffering from dizziness. It doesn't make me fall over and I've never stopped or slowed down, but there's always that swimmy-headed feeling.

It comes and goes, but often comes on after eating. Time is about the only thing to alleviate it, although I can recall one time when I was doing some exercise, the dizziness and numbness in my lower legs was present when I first got on the treadmill, disappeared when I was walking fast and really sweating, then returned after I got off the treadmill.

Problem is, I haven't exercised much because my energy is so low. I'd rather just rest and nap. Sleep and naps are often accompanied by sweating, only around the head. I wake up with my head all wet but from the neck down, I'm dry.

There has also been a bit of dry mouth and weakness in my legs with this, although those have subsided in the last few days. But the feeling like my brain is spinning hasn't gone away.

There's also been some nausea for the past few days, although I've noticed it tends to come with eating less than ideal meals.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you need any more symptoms, please ask.

Have you tried Gelsemium? Also, have any idea what happened that may have precipitated this decline in health?

Dear Andy,

can you post more info about yourself, other symptoms not related to this condition, sleep problems, how you feel emotionally, any general disturbances in your life etc.

Rhus tox is also a consideration, as it has
"Vertigo after eating". Also, better from motion. Take a 30C 4 times a day of one of these. If you're not better in 2 days, try the other remedy.

If neither one works, we'll look into your case further.

I took one dose of Rhus this evening and felt a little better, so I'll try tomorrow on a full day and report back. For now, I'll fill in as best I can.

This came on last Friday. Earlier in the week I had been on the road (I am a journalist and travel a lot), although it was a 2 hour drive, not a flight. Trade shows are always awful. The food is never what you could call a decent meal, and on the first morning, I had gotten very little sleep and skipped breakfast, and instead relied on coffee to keep me going. By noon I felt awful and went back to my hotel to crash. Next day was a day with no breakfast either.

I had figured I screwed up my blood sugar something fierce from the non-eating and running ragged at a trade show, because the feeling was almost diabetic. Tired, craving sweets, dry mouth. But the light headedness was there too.

I'd best describe it as the feeling after having a drink. Not drunk or impaired yet, but my head is floating a little. It's felt strongest when I'm walking and after eating, but I also feel it when seated too.

I've also noticed a bit of nausea for the last few days, but realized it's an old symptom I'd thought cured. For the longest time I always had a sensation of something burning crawling up my gullet to my mouth, which hit my gag reflex. That finally stopped after a remedy, Argentum Nitricum 1m.

As for the emotional level, ha. That's where it's been worst. I was feeling really depressed over my lack of forward motion in my life, my constant contradictions and unwillingness to do the things I felt had to be done or should be done (move, change career, etc). I was upset with myself for spending far too much time playing EverQuest (if you don't know, it will take too long to explain) and not working. So I was pretty upset, mostly with myself, for being at roughly the same place in my life as I was 10 years ago, only with a few more material possessions.

I've also been critical of my weight gain and slacking off at exercise, but every time I try to work out some excuse comes up not to do it, or I don't feel up to it. If it wasn't for the light headedness and bad taste in my mouth, I'd still say I was in rough shape, but all of it mental.

My last remedy was 2 months ago, Argentum Nitricum 10m. I had taken Ferrum Metallicum 6c about a month ago after a bad case of a shoulder injury. My rhomboid and deltoid muscles were badly inflamed, mostly from too much time at the computer and sitting in odd positions. I'd been using massage therapy and chiropractic and read that Ferrum could help, since it lists rheumatism of the shoulder in Boerckie. Surprisingly, it did.

If you need any more information, please ask. I hope this helps you.

Dear Andy,

You say you're worse sitting, worse eating, worse walking...what about lying? Does lying ameliorate?

The dizziness is lessened when sitting or lying, it's increased on standing and walking. I went for a workout at the gym and felt it more while exercising, especially when I did the cardio workout, but it never hindered my workout rate. After 30 minutes of cardio it was actually gone for a while. I think I needed a good sweat. I've been really lethargic for a while, perhaps this is my body saying 'get off your fat ass.'

It's often brought on by eating. I had a theory that it might be I'm not eating enough and had a protein drink, and did feel better. Whether it holds remains to be seen.

Hope it helps.

Andy,

I repertorized your acute symptoms, and if you're not satisfied with Rhus tox, try Cocculus and then, if nothing, try Nux Vomica.

You haven't told us about thirst.

Sorry. I mentioned it briefly in the first post, should have been more thorough. I have a great deal of dry mouth and drink lots of water, but that doesn't really seem to help. I'm going to hit the store and get something with electrolytes, like Gatoraid, and see if that helps.

30c on the Rhus?

Yes, 30C 4 times a day and if that doesn't help soon, go to Cocculus, then Nux vomica.

Good luck,

Snoopy
