Hi All:

First time posting here. I have been having a urinary problem for the past 3 months. Basically, my problem is of constant urge to urinate and increased frequency as a result of that. Have had many tests that have ruled out stones or blood sugar. Urine cultures have been normal and there is no pain in the prostate area. Have to urinate at least once an hour and pressure builds up as soon as finish. Constant feeling of not emptying the bladder. I am 34 and fairly prone to stress and anxiety. Overall in good health. Have experimented a little with Homeopathic remedies but results have been mediocre. Some days I feel better than before but it alwayd reverts back. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions or tips. Thanks in advance.

Hello fellow Pennsylvanian! Where in Pennsylvania are you from?

Well, ya know what? There are roughly 200 remedies for frequent urge to urinate! No, that is not good news! If there was one remedy, I'd know which one to give you!

So, what this means is, we need more info.
Let's start with water and drinking in general. Tell us about your thirst and what you drink and whether or not you like ice and what temperature you like your drinks to be.

When did this start, and what was happening in your life around that time--even as much as a year before; think in terms of griefs, stress in school or on the job, infections,
flu shots--anything you can think of.

What do you like to eat?

What would you change about yourself if you could?

Think of some of the things you say over and over again; like, "I'm doomed!" or "These damn Republicans make me sick!" Oh, no-- that's something I say over and over again--sorry!

What's the worst time of day for you?

What weather do you prefer?

Are you a chilly person or a warm person?

When you have an upset, are you on the phone to your friends immediately with it, or do you keep these things to yourself?

Tell us what's striking about you so that we'd feel like we'd know you anywhere--and I don't just mean physical appearance.

That's enough for now.

Hey Snoops - mind if I add a few ???"s

Is there any pain, burning when urinating or any other sensation associated with the constant urge to go. If there is pain is it before , during or after urination? Does the problem affect you while you sleep or does it affect your sleep? Is there any time of day when the problem is worse or better? Anything make it better? Is urine normal in color, smell?

Yes, thank you, Barb very much! I forgot to ask about concomitant symptoms, it's a good thing you're here; I can't run this free clinic by myself!!!!!

Barb asks some important questions, including is there anything associated with this problem--a fellow traveler, so to speak?
It's just like, when a person gets migraines, they often get something along with it; such as, nausea, diarrhea, despair, etc. Sometimes we can't figure out the headache remedy but the "concomitant" is clear, and we are able to find the remedy that way.

One more thing, rb...we also need to know if you drink in sips taken frequently throughout the day, or if you take your drinks in many gulps at a time when you do drink. Thanks again--

Hi Snoopy and Barb:

Thanks a lot for your quick reply. I am from the Philadelphia area and will try and reply all questions.

Let's start with water and drinking in general. Tell us about your thirst and what you drink and whether or not you like ice and what temperature you like your drinks to be. My thirst has been normal but I had been trying to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily for the past 6 months. So my water intake is up. I don't like my drinks to be too chilled and prefer them without ice or at room temp.

When did this start, and what was happening in your life around that time--even as much as a year before; think in terms of griefs, stress in school or on the job, infections,
flu shots--anything you can think of. This gradually started 4 months ago with increased frequency first, don't remember if there was urgency. Over that period, I was in the process of changing jobs and moving to PA from CT. Stress levels are definately high and also dealing with living in different location from my wife and meeting expectations at work. In general I am a very anxious person. Right now, I get this feeling of a burning and fullness right after I urinate.

What do you like to eat? I typically like eating hot and spicy foods but I have given them up since my problem started. I am also off coffee.

What would you change about yourself if you could? I would like to change my personality to be less stressfull and be more carefree and less worrisome. I don't feel happy or satisfied very much.

Think of some of the things you say over and over again; like, "I'm doomed!" or "These damn Republicans make me sick!" Oh, no-- that's something I say over and over again--sorry! I feel unlucky and cursed and believe that my overall luck is not very good. I am also prone to minor physical ailments all the time.

What's the worst time of day for you? Usually afternoons and late evenings as I am not occupied with work and tend to obssess with my problem.

What weather do you prefer? Summers and warm weather.

Are you a chilly person or a warm person? I am a warm person, not overly friendly though.

When you have an upset, are you on the phone to your friends immediately with it, or do you keep these things to yourself? I don't share much with friends and keep issues to myself.

Tell us what's striking about you so that we'd feel like we'd know you anywhere--and I don't just mean physical appearance. Friends tell me that I come across as a easy going person and don't offend anybody. Tend to mix well in any company, no major hang ups in life.

I have been able to sleep okay at night but my bladder is pretty full by morning. Also, in general, I have trouble falling asleep but I don't tend to ake up after that. There is a feeling of slight burning after I am finished urinating but the major problem is of constant urge, even though I might not urinate much when I go. I have been trying to hold going before 1 hour. The color is usually yellowish.

I usually like to drinks in gulps of water. Since yesterday I have started taking Cantharis 30C. Also, could you please recommend a qualified homeopath in the Philadelphia area. Thanks guys for your help.

Dear rbrar

You said that this problem began the same time you were moving and starting a new job - both of these are considered very stressful eevnts, but how did this make you feel? Were you angry about it? sad? greiving for old home? Since this started at the same time I think we may really need to focus on prescribing on causation rather than simply physical symptoms.

Hi Barb:

Regarding your question about my move and the onset of my problem. I was actually very happy about moving to PA and a new job as I was not doing well at my old company. My main source of stress is my line of work (investments) and the expectations/uncertainities of a new company and my work output. Overall, I am quite well situated in the new company but I tend to take on more stress. Thanks for your help.

Dear rb,

The reason you have this bladder problem is because you drink too much water; you are weakening your kidneys. Drink when you're thirsty! How is it conceivable that everyone needs 8 glasses of water a day? Everyone? Football players and couch potatoes alike? Stop drinking so much water immediately.

Try the cantharis and see if it helps; otherwise try Equisetum 6C three times a day and at the same time, if you can find it, Equisetum tincture (Horse-tail) 5 drops in an ounce of water three times a day. It's a kidney tonic and it's for people who have a constant desire to urinate with burning at the close of urination. Granted this may not have any effect on your personality, but I believe this problem was brought on by over-drinking of water with the idea that it would be good for you.

I would like to know whether you enjoy exercising and how you feel after it.
Do yu have a family? How are things with them? Describe if you have any dark shadows around your eyes. Are you a nest and tidy person or untidy (like me!!). Who told you to take the Cantharis? If nothing has happened in a couple of days forget it!! If you take it for too long it may make matters worse.

Snoopy - you know what I am getting at here. I will be off line on and off for about a week as I am going away. I will leave it in your hands!!
