Red face

I have a belly button ring and all was fine until I decided to change it to a new one. The new one caused a reaction and the hole got infected again.

I have since gone back to the original ring, but it keeps getting infected.
I have used disinfectants etc to no avail.

Any suggestions (besides removing the ring!)

What are the symptoms of the infection? Redness? Itchyness? Pain? Discharge? Any heat? Also what was the material of the new ring?

Having said this - Ledum is good for puncture wounds, but really more info needs to be given.

Is the area very red? swollen at all. Is there heat or does it feel hot to touch. Is the discharge clear, cloudy? Any other symptoms related to this?

I am thinking Ledum, Calendula or Hypericum -

WHat do others think?

Slightly swollen, cloudy discharge. The area is warm to touch - so that would rule out Ledum.

I read you shouldn't use Calendula if the area is infected as it will trap the infection in.

I will not go for Cream.
Please do use Calendula Tincture for external/topical use which will not interfere with healing process.

p.s. Beware! It might sting a bit?????

Echinacea tincture is even better than calendula tincture and won't heal skin so quickly to trap infection in. It will also sting!!!! Mix the 2 if you wish!

You might be able to avoid the stinging if you can find an echinacea or calendula cream: that is, the cream base will incorporate a 1x of the extract, but include no alcohol. This may be a bit more comfortable for you.

Hope it heals up soon
