YEs that's the main idea of wanting to look for the elusive consitutional. the miracle cures of the single deep acting remedy. Or even proving more relevant "modern" remedies, understnading salts and the periodic table, etc.
IF the patient needs a well known remedy then its great, and that's where some of these wonderful cures are witnessed.

But if one cannot find this remedy (for any number of reasons), we're missing the chance of helping the patient heal in a step by step process, picture by picture and that's why its essential that all homeopaths know their basics. And here I agree with HansW.

The topic of “the single remedy” is interesting. I certainly do not know the answer to this as I am a beginner.

But I did bring it up to my homeopath who just called me an hour ago for my 1 week checkup.

I am very frustrated today because my lowered mood returned yesterday and today. I had experienced 5 days in a row of a very nice upbeat mood even though I was overly relaxed and tired. I am fairly certain that all of this was brought about by the 1LM doses of lycopodium.

I am trying to figure out what could have antidoted the remedy. I think it was an antidote as opposed to an aggravation. I am wondering if the raw crushed garlic could have done it. I am fairly positive that I am allergic to garlic – a member of the lily family. So –the antidoting is either due to an allergic reaction or possibly due to the fact that garlic is extremely strong smelling and possible the strong smell has had an effect. Stranger things have been known to happen.

My hope resides in this so-called single remedy if it exists in my case.

Look, xanta, you're taking LM potencies, and your upbeat mood improved on the remedy when you took it at first. I don't know what kind of dosing schedule you're on, but I do know its good your homeopath seems to be on top of things by touching base with you once a week. You probably just have to fix the dosing schedule or see if another remedy's indicated...but basically, if you've had a positive mental and emotional result, that's good!

Don't despair if another remedy is needed. Big deal! Getting well is a process, not an instant event. Part of that process is becoming aware of what your symptoms actually are and finding out how you change and react to the world around you as you get better. Sometimes it takes a few remedies...all which bring about improvement...before a patient finds the singular remedy which always works for them, no matter what.

Is that information, when its finally found, any less valuable just because the process to find it involved the use of other, effective, remedies?
