Hi Meg again, I'm really sorry but I have just had another SOS phone call.
My friends 9 year old daughter has just had laser treatment on her back to remove a huge black melanoma. The very brave little girl is in so much pain, and while in hospital they gave her morphine, but at home her mother is giving her parecetamol. When her dressing is changed, a 2 hour ordeal, she screams with pain, my head is already in a whirl and would like confirmation as to whether Caust or Canth may help with the pain or even Hyp, or is there something else. Thanks, a befuddled Meg  |

Meg,
Whatever remedy you give, in an acute like this, the respnse should be immediate, like within 5 or ten minutes. So, I would say, try caust., wait, then try canth. Hopefully you've got a high potency. Urtica is another possibility. Getting a plant sprayer and spraying aloe juice on the area or spraying calendula in potency on the area, either one or both might help. Giving calendula in potency by mouth is another possibility. Low potencies should be repeated every 10 minutes if a response is noted, until she seems stable, and then take less often. If you have the remedy Sol, that's another possibility. Snoopy |

Give her a dose of Thuja 30C once a week till her wound heals.

I would say the sensitivity to pain is probably a more reliable symptom than the causation. What is the rubric for laser burns anyway? Concentrated light - is it like sunburn? or radiation burns? (rad-br?)
Consider remedies like Cham or Coff for the extreme sensitivity to pain. Cham - Pains are unendurable Becomes mad with pain Excessive sensitivity of the nerves The "opium" of homoeopathy Excessive sensitivity to pain Shrieking with the pain (4 value symptom) [ 10 May 2001: Message edited by: DavidJK ]

Dr B, I can see where you are coming from with this.
A theoretical question: Would you think that the constitutionally indicated anti-sycotic would be better still, if it were known? [not that there is time for determining it at this stage.] |

Anna,
I didnot suggest Thuja only because it is an anti-sycotic med(there r so many of them), but also because thuja has those sever "tearing pains" and "sensitivity to touch" too. So Thuja will not only help in the acute pains, but will do much more since its deeper acting and covers the underlying cause too.

If this is a thuja situation as seems likely, then the wound will heal faster, the sooner the dressing can be dispensed with.
Thuja troubles thrive UNDER COVER. Dissolve the remedy in water and alcohol [to preserve] and succussing between doses to avoid the possiblity of aggravation. AMENDMENT: on reflection I think there is a possibility that this could be a Silica case rather than thuja and if that is so, then my advice to get the dressing off asap was exactly opposite to what should be done, so please ignore it.
