Question

Another thing is that my daughter loves cleanliness, she would make a mess on her table, but then would put out her hands to be cleaned.

What is happening right now, is that she has eruptions like litle pimples all over her body. At first they are little pink spots with a small head of white pus in the middle and itch much. Then they turn redder, still itch but less, and then leave brownish pigmented dots that slowly fade away. She has less of them springing out now, but they still persist, and appear from time to time.

Her adenoids are increased but have normal color.

This is difficult because it's not a full case.
The only rubrics I found that were certain were
Milk agg
Washing agg
Changeable

Which doesn't narrow it down too well [14 remedies.] None of which is Merc so do not repeat it.

If it is certain the child particularly likes fish then it is taken to only

Calc Phos, Nit ac, phos, sul-ac

But is that just because of the environment? - perhaps she would prefer meat etc if that were offered, so I am not confident to use it.
Also it is usual for children not to like their food too hot, so it is not safe to use that either.

Given the aversion to being left by the mother, probably it is safe to use

Company in amel,

but really it needs a competent homoeopath to take a full case so that guesswork is eliminated [not the person with the electronic box -worse than useless - those inaccurate prescriptions can be harmful.]

Hi Helena,

I'd echo Anna's thoughts about your current homeopath--she is not a homeopath, as she repeatedly tells you she can't manage the case and obviously can take or analyze a case using one of those terrible machines.

You do need to take some steps to find someone close to you so that you have much more to go on than those homeopathy guides.

The remedy which comes to mind for me is phosphorus, but there is really not enough here to go on. Your daughter really needs to be seen in person by a homeopath to determine this for certain (a phosphorus child, in particular, has a very distinct personality and temperament...easy to recognize when seen in person). Right now, with the information given, I can determine that she could need this remedy--but I would never prescribe on so little information.

You did say one thing that got my attention, however: that was that your child "seduces" other people. Do you mean she charms them easily, and that people naturally gravitate towards her? Or is there a very subtle element of seduction, as we know it, there? Also, how often does she exercise or demonstrate her "willfulness"? Can she be contrary? Is she, often, with you or anyone else?

Is there a marked "sidedness" to her symptoms, as in, does the rash seem to be present more on one side of the body than the other? Are there any other symptoms which seem to affect one side more than the other?

What is her sleep like, generally? Does she have any siblings? What does the rash feel like to her? (burning itchiness? or just itchy? Does the rash hurt her?)

I have had 5 cases of kids that needed Phosphorus who would not walk past a window at night because they thought there was someone out there pointing something at them. So what is the apparition like?

For our little girl it is like a human skull. Whenever she sees it during the daylight she becomes agitated and tries to persuade herself that it is not scary, that it is not real, that it is just an artist painted it, but she quite often is afraid of dark rooms saying that the skull, with its teeth could hide there.

Also I wanted to add, I wrote earlier that she does not drink much, but in fact she drinks much more now than she used to before. Apparantly her homeopathic state has changed? (The recent outbreak of rash about 1 month ago, was in fact caused by some doses of Berberis,
6d. I posted a question here about this as I thought that she had a problem after this Berberis was wrongly administered, but probably after all it worked and brought out the rash covered up by betametazone. At the same time her renal action seemed to have improved and just before the big outbreak of rash a smaller patch of eczema on her innner left elbow almost cleared up. In any case I will never again trust the so-called homeopath that firmly beleives that if the remedy is wrong then it would just pass without anything. All that is to say that the girl has started to drink more water recently. And the rash itself has cleared up quite considerably, but her constant scratching does not change.)

As for Divina's question about how the girl feels about the rash - I could not get any coherent answer from her. She cries when she scratches away the crust and some bodily liquid, pinkish-vermin blood in it, not dark colored, oozes from the little wound.

She is clearly afraid to catch a disease from other children and often checks her own little bruises. That, I understand, is a feature of Phosphorus?

She also is compassionate, she tends even to start crying when she sees another child cry.

I should have asked this before: in what position does she sleep? Eg: on back; on left/right side; on abdomen; knees tucked under, face down; arms raised above the head while on back...you get the idea?

still seems like quite a phosphoric child--or in need of a remedy in the same miasmatic family as the phosphorus (such as tuberculinum, medorrhinum, carcinosin). Interesting thing about the fear of the bones after seeing a scientific drawing of cat's skeleton...and the skeleton of a cat, at that...

One other thing: is there any violence in this child--tantrums which become violent (toys thrown or hit against another object; hitting other children; violent screaming)?

Yes, the concern about one's health and anxiety about getting other's illnesses is a concern for phosphorus persons--but about 70 other remedies also appear under that rubric in my repertory. Earlier you mentioned something about bathing being a problem...what is it about bathing that is problematic for you and your daughter?

If you don't mind disclosing (you could also send me a private message by clicking on the little icon above), where in Japan are you?

Divina

Thanks Divina!

I don't mind at all to tell you our location. It's in the southernest of the 4 biggest islands in Japan, called Kyushu. We live in a small town of 20 000 people but in 20 minutes by train from Fukuoka, which is quite a big and nice town.

I just noticed that I missed the message of Anne Bryant, I'm sorry. Our girl really likes fish. Sometimes she would want meat, but if you ask her in advance most of the time she would say fish. Shortly after that broblems with bones she did not eat fish as she was afraid of bones, but now this one levelled out and she eats it well. She likes very much very little dry baby fish that they eat here and asks always to add it almost everywhere. She also likes very much to watch fish in aquariums.

Her sleeping position is difficult to describe, but she never sleeps cuddled. Rather arched a little bit backwards, though she does not raise her hands above her head, she often protrudes them in front of her, as she mostly sleeps on her side, I would not say for sure which side, she turns often. Sometimes she sleeps on her stomack, but very rarely on her back.

It happens to her to throw things, very rarely she taps other children as far as I saw, but quite possible in the kindergarten. But when she is angry, she's very likely to try to tap me or more often her father. And she certainly does cry violently from anger.

She likes very much look in the books the pictures of all sorts of animals, but is afraid of real insects or small animals.

Usually she reacts to things immediately, as I thought about her cousin, who sits still for a while and only then one can see that there is a reaction.

She is so afraid of thunder and lightning that when we were in Switzerland on a national holiday and she felt that there will be fireworks, she was seized by panic and we had to run home, close all the windows and cuddle her for an hour or so.

Since then she does not support the idea of fireworks.

Thank you again for your interest, it's very kind of you!

Hi Helen,

First of all, about the Mercury, it seems to have done a very good job. When a remedy causes an improvement on the mental/emotional plane first, and the sleep improves, this is the best-case scenario and there's no way that this can be perceived as being a wrong or suppressive remedy. But is it the child's constitutional, or even the therapeutic remedy for the rash? Probably not.

What I think is most peculiar in this case(and in homeopathy, we try to prescribe on the peculiar and not the common symptoms), is seeing "ghosts" both night and day.
There is only one remedy listed under "Delusions: Ghosts, spirits, spectres, sees, day and night" and that's Arsenicum, and it's there as a "2"--meaning it's reliable. Arsenicum has itchy rashes. It has fears of abandonment, the restless sleep, the clinginess and this need in a child to have her hands washed when they get "yucky"--most children would just wipe their hands on their shirt.

This isn't to say that arsenicum is her constitutional remedy--which could be phos. or puls. But it might be the "layer remedy", in other words, it might cover the rash, the birth trauma, the fears. Anyway, if you decide to try it, use a low potency like a 6C twice a day, because a high potency could aggravate the rash terribly.

This doesn't mean that it can't be phosphorus. But if you wait for everyone on the bulletin board to agree, you'll never give your daughter anything! The idea is to start with something, proceed cautiously, stop the remedy if there's an aggravation and see what happens when the aggravation stops. Is there ultimate improvement? If not, it was the wrong remedy, and move on to the next one. If there was improvement, go back to it, but take less often. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I was writing my letter while the news came in about the child fearing thunderstorms, and of course, that's another point for phosphorus. So, I think Helen might consider trying phos. first as out-lined above.

Hey Snoopy! Arsenicum is the acute to phosphorus' chronic...and to be on the safe side, we should see how each follows mercury. I'm using Boericke to look at the relationships, please check another more up to date source if you have one handy.

Okay--both Ars and Phos follow merc well, but only Arsenicum is an antidote to the mercury. Also, the last rash has cleared, but the merc once again aggravated the itching without eruption. Arsenicum is a 3 in the rubric Skin, itching, eruption without. Unfortunately, medorrhinum, mercury, and sulfur are also there. Since the merc shows up in the rubric and it caused this symptom to aggravate in the case (requiring the antidoting) perhaps Arsenicum is the best remedy to start with. What do you say?
