Hi, myself and a small group are doing a long meditation retreat, sitting still and concentrating for hours each day (or at least trying to!) already the aches and pains are starting to set in, particularly in the legs and upper back. Are there any remedies specific to this cause that anyone knows of? I thought of Rhus but there must be others lurking within the materia..

(ps, I gave my grandad some Rhus for his arthritis and it had an extreme diuretic effect on him- he said he had to get up many times in the night to visit the loo- any ideas why that might be???!)

thanking you kindly. nic

If you look at Rhus-t in the MM, you'll see frequent urination, worse lying down.

hi, it could well be that you all need different remedies for your aches.

one idea for a relatively quick fix could be to invite an alexander technique teacher into the group for a day to observe postures and to correct them subtly during the course of the day.

Intentionally entering into alpha-wave brain states and thus voluntarily surrendering control of one's own brain to unseen beings able to then telepathically control such naive and wishfully hopeful people with wistful thoughts of acquiring higher awareness by such cheating techniques from illegitimate philosophies and religions are practices no homeopath can support, so I will not.

Hi,

What position do you meditate in most often?

Also, are you able to relax your body and concentrate on your breathing?

What type of breathing patteren do you follow?

Do your sessions involve meditating while lying down?

Do you fell pain in the back of your neck/trapezoids?

Can you describe the pain in your own words?

Are your sessions designed to cool or warm your body?

While meditating, try breathing in with your right nostril and see if your pain diminishes.

I would not recommend any remedies unless absolutely needed.

thanks for the advice, I took arnica 30 which took away the aching and gave me more energy.

Shirley, because my grandad didn't have the frequent urination before I gave him the rhus, does this then mean that it was like a mini-proving? Is this because it was the wrong remedy?--in a similar way, I know someone who took some arnica and that night she had bad dreams (almost unheard of for her) when she looked arnica up nightmares were listed.

The diuretic effect you saw after the Rhus tox could be the result of many things. Sometimes those with rheumatic pains or gout will have some kind of kidney function issue as well. A good remedy can often stimulate proper kidney function, which might be the reason the diuretic effect results.

It really depends on your patient, who we know pretty much nothing about, so it would be difficult to say.

Chacha said it all. We don't really know. There can be multiple causes.
