Hi- I will give you the full story later- but for now.......Bre has been off Losec for a few weeks, off laxative for about 10 days , has had 2 doses of Lyc LM1 and had a dose of China LM1 yesterday.
I know you want more detail and I will give it to you but right now I need your help with the pooping thing. She has been only going every 3 days and it is very very paiful when she does go. Today is day 3 and she is screaming in pain as she sits and tries to go. What can I give her to soften the stool and get it out without giving her a dose of the maganalax laxative? By tonight I will have no choice but to give her the laxative as much as I don't want to unless there is something else that can help. I know that we have to treat the big picture but right now- We have to get this poop out before we can do anything else. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks, Jen

GM told me to do this when desperate with my 80 year old mother who hadn't gone for a week and it worked.

pinch of salt and pinch of sugar in 8 ounces water. Shake l0 times and put one teaspoon in another 8 ounces and shalke that 10 times and then do it one more time and give her a sip of that. Its a 3x nat mur. It didn't work again like the next day but only after it had been a few days. He warned not to overdo it.

Just went this very route with one of us and was advised by our Homeopath, to not interfere with the remedy --- just the old thing - eat prunes .

Boil some dried prunes in water (and let them stand in the water - covered)...eat two a day and this will help soften the stool. IT WORKS!

Alternatively, Kiwi works wonders too...but have to eat a bit more than just one for some people.

Good luck, Jen - hang in there .
Lisa
PS Jen, do this after you get this current bout of constipation sorted..then get her to eat prunes daily, to help keep the stool softened..but they must be boiled (hence, softened and wet themselves).

Hi Jen, nice to hear from you.
When my brother (who once had an eating disorder) got the constipation (which was often) he took linseeds. They are tiny black seeds and can be sprinkled on cereal or any food. You don't need many. He says it was the best thing every time. Health-food shop has them.
Wishing you good results,
Louise.

An Opium 30 may well work BUT she is on a homeopathic remedy and therefore yu should not give her anything without getting in touch with the practitioner. Linseed gives me diarrhoea so may well work. Can you get Fibregel granules which is I.... husks (sorry can't remember the I... word)

Please don't force her to go. Wait until she has an urge. It will not harm her to wait another day. I wouldn't like her to get to stage where she is holding on to the stool because she is frightened to pass it as it will hurt. I had a 3 year old patient with this problem.

Dear Jen,

If your child is on a daily dose of a constitutional remedy, it's perfectly safe and acceptable to stop the constitutional and take an acute remedy when necessary and then resume the constitutional when the acute is resolved. This is the advantage of daily low doses; so, if you have one of the remedies famous for treating constipation--opium, alumina, nux vomica, etc....which ever seems to match the best, feel free to give it, along with the food advice that people are giving here.

Hi- thanks so much everyone. The stool passed but oh my was it unpleasant- for her because of the pain and for me to see her is so much pain. I bought some prunes tonight and I am boiling them as we speak- She also has about 8-10 tsp of flax flour (we grind up the seeds) per day. I hope that things will settle down and that in 3 days we don't have a repeat of today. Once again thanks for your suggestions.
