Well, he had another flare up. Two days ago, he woke in the morning and limped into my room. He told me his leg was hurting like before. This time it was his right knee. Soon it began to swell. I gave him apis, and applied arnica gel to the knee, and to the thigh where he said it hurt.

This episode of swelling was not as dramatic and painful as the last time, thank goodness. He was still able to walk around somewhat, sitting and bending the leg was painful. Cold made it feel somewhat better. He has pains in his thigh, and his calf and shins that he describes as "moving pains" he says that they move around.

Yesterday morning I took him to see a local MD homeopath, he checked him out physically and talked to us for a while, he prescribed ledum 12c,to be given 3x daily, which kind of surprised me.

The knee is still swollen, and he has pain, but not a great amount. He is better able to bend it today. My son is taking it very well, he is still pretty cheerful, but I am so upset and worried.

I feel unsure about what to do, I have given him the ledum as recommended. Any advice?

Yes--give ledum as prescribed and watch and wait. I believe you said he suffered from a spider bite at one point (I may be mistaken here--this is just something I remember). If so, ledum is a very good remedy for puncture wounds of any kind--including insect bites.

Hope he does well on his remedy.

Glad you found someone local to you....

What alarmed you about the dosing, tho?

If you are worried - please just ask him - because it is so much better if you start off with the communication lines open. I'm sure he'd try to help you understand his reasoning.

Led does sound right for an acute - but I wonder about the long term...the chronic - since this has happened before. If it is a pattern, then it can't be an acute. Perhaps he is using Ledum to give your boy some pain relief - until he works out the case?

Just some thoughts...
Curious what others think!!

Take care,
Lisa

Exclamation

PS..if this was from a spider bite (I remember that being mentioned too)..then it sounds right....

but I also seem to remember you saying you weren't sure it was from a spider bite (?? is that correct)?

If you weren't sure - and told him this..I'm sure he's thinking - let's dose based on what's presenting...watch and wait and see what happens..which makes sense.

Hope I didn't confuse you ...
All the best,
Lisa

Thank you for the reassurance. Yes, you all remembered correctly about the spider bite. This is the same doctor who saw him for the bite, around 2 years ago, so that is probably what led him to the remedy.

The remedy did seem to improve the mobility of the joint, just hasnt done anything for the swelling. But I will watch and wait.

Hello all,
Well I guess it wasn't a spider bite after all, but a tick bite, because my son's Lyme test came back positive. We are going to the dr. on Monday to discuss treatment. I am assuming it will be a heavy course of antibiotics.

I still feel like homeopathy can cure him. I am not sure if this MD will pursue a homeopathic treatment with this, but I surely hope so. I feel like I could use a constitutional remedy myself.

Absolutely--homeopathy can cure Lyme's Disease--and the ledum is a very good remedy for its treatment--an almost specific for Lyme's disease.

There is no reason not to use the MD for the information he can provide for you on your son's progress....so you don't have to take any antibiotics if you choose not to. Inform your homeopath about the diagnosis, and discuss homeopathic treatment with him. Antiobiotic treatment for Lyme's disease is not curative--only suppressive; so you are quite lucky to be as well informed as you are about such an effective alternative.

Hang in there. I bet you don't need a remedy, just a day where you don't have to worry so much and have plenty of time for pampering and rest...hope you get some of this soon.

I have realised what is the correct remedy for your son which will deal with his Lyme disease constitutionally - I went back to check the case, and the remedy fits ALL the symptoms - including the ones Dr Sinha and I could not agree about earlier.
Mail me if you wish for info.

Thank you, I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into my son's case. Hopefully everything will work out for the best.

I will keep you all posted on his progress. Monday I will find out what the homeopathic MD wants us to do for treatment.

And I emailed Anna to find out what she came up with
