Unhappy

Hi

Can anyone help. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and really suffering with headaches. I've been to my GP who says physically I'm fine and just to take Paracetemol but it doesn't work. Any ideas would be gratefully received - I don't know enough yet about remedies to diagnose myself.

Thanks

Well, you got a long way to go and I would suggest not to take too many paracetamols. There are many Good Homoeopaths in London, go through Yellow Pages, there might be one near your residence. Self medication especially during pregnancy is not advisable.

A quote from old books:

"Good and natural food, good thoughts and a happy and natural environment is what you need for a healthy and happy baby"

Wish you a healthy and happy future.

Thanks. I understand what you're saying - I've been in touch with a local homeopath and they charge £35 for an initial meeting and £25 for each one after that - with a baby on the way money is a bit tight!

I suppose I'll have to do it the right way though.

I realise money is tight when a baby is on the way, BUT, it really isn't wise to self-medicate while pregnant - esp with things like paracetamol and brufen (that isn't allowed ) or other things, like Homeopathy (which can be dangerous without a an experienced prescriber!!).

I also understand that Brits tend to freak a bit over paying for any healthcare - but I add, there ARE some Homeopaths on the NHS, from what I understand. So, try to get a referral to one from your GP.

Failing that, 35 pounds and a couple of follow-ups isn't the end of the world when it comes to the health of you, hence the health of your baby .You may even be able to find one who would work with you on payments , while you get the treatment you need. Basically, "lets take care of you now, and worry about the money issue later".

I hate that money stands in the way of people getting help, but I also understand and appreciate that Homeopaths (esp those not on NHS) have to eat too, and they spend a helluva lot more time on patients than GP's!

Hope you find some way to get some help . I know it can be miserable .
Take care,
Lisa

Cool

Hi Claire

I had headaches between fourteen and twenty weeks and they did pass just as the nausea passes after about twelve to fourteen weeks. So I hope it's the same for you!

There are a lot of headache remedies but I agree with the others that you NEED a proper consultation. In your delicate state you may respond differently to remedies and you need an expert to monitor you.

This is how I see it: think of it as an investment in yourself and the baby. The first consultation IS expensive but once the homeopath knows your case they can help you with so much more than just the headaches. They can give remedies to help with the birth, remedies can help you to heal better and quicker after your delivery. Then there is breast feeding problems, the list goes on...

Believe me once you've had a good result from a remedy you'll wonder why doesn't everyone try it!!

I have to say I think that homeopaths who work on the NHS are few and far between. I've never known any. I have known the odd health care professional who has a smattering of knowledge of alternative treatments in general. Which is probably more dangerous than no knowledge at all.

BTW the prices you quoted seem quite reasonable to me.

£35 for a consultation in London sounds far too cheap to me. Please make sure that if you go, you see a Classical homeopath who prescribes only one remedy at a time and a minimum dose. There appear to be a lot of homeopaths in London that prescribe a mixture of remedies to take during the week which IMO is not a good idea.

Cool

Thank you to all of you for your advice. I've had a long chat with my husband and he agrees that it's got to be done right so I've got an appointment for early next week with a registered homeopath.

I appreciate the support.
