I have a patient coming in with Molluscum. I prescribe on the whole person but wondered if anyone has had any success with this.
I'm sure there was a thread on it not so long ago but can't find it in the search bit! ( I just found it in the Skin forum when I searched!!) [This message has been edited by Ricky (edited 02 February 2001).] |

Just goes to show we can't prescribe on disease name, hey! Sulph worked well in these children - and the little boy's Molluscum has not returned now in over 6 months. He is experiencing no other problems.
His sister is almost there - and we're still waiting, watching, as there IS steady but slow improvement .All the best! Lisa ![]() |

Dear Ricky,
I cured a case with Mag-mur, but of course that was based on the mental symptoms. Interestingly, I used Sulph on her and it suppressed the skin and brought back some other symptoms I originally had cleared. We had to repeat the old remedy to re-establish the skin symptoms and clear the neurological ones. ------------------ David Kempson Dip.Homoeopathic Medicine Member A.H.A(Australia) [This message has been edited by DavidJK (edited 03 February 2001).] |

Molluscum Contagiosum is a self limiting condition - lasts 3-15 months then just naturally disappears when the child gets immunity. Maybe the remedy cleared it, maybe not. Since it's a distant cousin of the wart, I'd probably be thinking of sycotic remedies like thuja.

Wexdoc, that is good and fine to quote the theory of how long this usually lasts..but in the case of the little boy - he had it over a span of a few months - which is when I saw him and he got Sulph (which was indicated in his case) - and it has been about 9/10 months now and no signs of it returning.
I agree though, that he probably needs a rem to follow... ![]() Lisa [This message has been edited by Lisa~Annan (edited 03 March 2001).] |

<<I'd probably be thinking of sycotic remedies like thuja. >>
I gave my son Thuja when he had it because he also had a regular wart and I thought I"d kill two birds with one stone.... the Thuja took care of the wart but it made the Molluscum alot worse... go figure! |

It wasn't my intention to upset anyone, folks. I agree that a really well fitting remedy will speed up the body's own immune system and help clear the molluscum, but I'm for ever trying to persuade patients that self limiting conditions don't require orthodox medical treatment. So we have to stop and think whether it is appropriate in any given case to treat these things homeopathically, particularly in children, since they will clear up eventually. Certainly, if they were otherwise extremely healthy, I would think twice.
I said that I would be thinking of a sycotic remedy like thuja, but I would only give it if it fitted the child's total picture. Anyway, I have a friend whom I've been unable to disuade from having about 30 molluscs removed from her 3-year-old son by cryotherapy under GA. Compared to that, a bit of an agg with a remedy is a picnic! |
