I recently took a case which seems to me very clearly Phos. I gave phos LM1 owing to prescription drugs being used.

The patient found on the day after taking the dose he had a severe headache. A few days later he tried a further dose, again the next day a bad headache. Same thing a third time.

Any ideas please?

Try the C potency in a dry dose.

Isn't that a bit risky - he could get a terrible headache from a higher potency.

GM advised that coffee is the problem, and the patient is effectively going cold turkey on a coffee addiction by taking phos.

The cold turkey sounds the likely cause. It happened to me as I gave up tea.
Hold off the LM and wait til H/A subsides before starting again and give at longer intervals, or teaspoonful instead of tablespoonful dose.

Coffee withdrawals only last a day or two--and they don't time themselves with remedy doses.

What was your second likely remedy? I don't think Phos is the right one.

My last patient who did a coffee withdrwal had headaches that felt as if the skin on their scalp was too small for it!! This repped out as coffea!! This lasted about a week. When I did it the withdrawal lasted about 2 weeks but I only had headaches for a couple of days.

Just my point. The headaches and other stuff could well be caused by caffeine withdrawal--but what if they only came when the remedy was taken, and each time afterward?

Phos is not the right remedy. Surely other remedies were considered--one must have a headache symptom which matches the one the patient is now experiencing, as well as all the other symptoms noted in the casetaking.
That will be a better remedy than the phos.

Thank you very much PKSinha. I am very confident of Phos. It shone through every last symptom in this complex case.
Since I have to manage the case responsibly, which means understanding what I do, please could you explain why a 50M won't cause an agg when an LM1 does.
I would be very grateful indeed if you could kindly take the time to explain.

You could try:

1. going to a second cup; which is to say, a tsp. of the dosage cup into a 2nd cup of water (4 oz.), stir and take one sip.

2. cut down to 2 succussions of the remedy solution bottle.

3. go to 6C dry twice a day
