Hi Rajan,
First, I would ask, if the need for glasses to correct the eyesight is a family trait of yours or if it is merely your kids that have that. I do believe (as I am short sighted too) that it can be hereditary. In that case, I estimate it would take constitutional treatment of your kids and then about 4 generations each case treated constitutionally for that problem and good luck in choosing partners who have excellent eyesight to "produce" offspring that sees well. If the eye problem is not suspected to be hereditary, I trust that there could be good chances for reversal with the appropriate similimum. Are both eyes affected to equal degree ? For remedy suggestions, check for example Robin Murphy's Repertory: Vision, Nearsighted ... Good luck, Claudia ![]() |

Hi Claudia,
The vision problem is not hereditary. Neither myself nor my wife wears glasses. My son has got them from an early age about 7 yrs old & has been wearing it for about 3 yrs. Wanted to find out if I can get rid of his glasses by helping hime improve his eyesight. Any further details can be posted if needed. Rajan |

Hi Rajan,
I hope it isn't hereditary for your son, however, check 4 generations back and include aunts and uncles to see if it isn't. Both my siblings who don't wear glasses have partners who don't wear glasses and kids with glasses! Claudia

I am not sure whether it can be reversed if there has been myopia for three years - it's possible, but not probable I think.
However, while the eye is still growing, unless there is treatment, the vision will probably continue to deteriorate for several more years. Homoeopathy can arrest that process to prevent increases in the prescription required. |

Hi
Does anyone have experience with getting rid of eye glasses in kids? Basically, my point is to improve my kid's eyesight & be able to get rid of the glasses. I can understand homeopathy can help in the constitutional cause leading to the need of glasses. I am curious to know if we can bring it back to a level where we don't need the glasses anymore and how long can this take. My son is short sighted; needs glasses to see distant objects but has no problem in reading. Remedies useful for this problem? (Will be matched with the totality of his symptoms). Thanks Rajan |

The Bates Eye Method may help your son's eyesight. Have a look at http://www.seeing.org which has lots of information on the subject, including a list of registered teachers. |

Thank you all for your input.
Tine, I had read about Bates Method some time back. Does it work? Any experience? Anna, I agree, if the problem is not checked it can deteriorate further. I had given him Acid Phos 30C one dose once a day for few days, but he started having mild runny nose/congestion & I had stopped giving him AP. |

Rajan, I have only recently started going to see a Bates Eye Method teacher (2 lessons so far). The teacher is very enthusiastic about the subject and has told me about several cases of children's eyesight improving after starting the exercises. The thing I find most difficult is disciplining myself to sit down and do everything she has taught me. Some of the exercises must be done daily and others several times a week. Having said that though I am already noticing a difference. When I do put my glasses on to read something my eyes become sore quite quickly, which suggests to me that the prescription is now too strong.
If you look at the list of practitioners on the website you may find one near to you whom you could call to discuss your son's situation with before committing yourself. |

Thanks Tine,
I checked at the website and there is no Bates Teacher closeby. Only few are available in the US. They do send a total package for distant learning but I am not sure if this is the best way especially for a young kid. I really would like to work with a homeopath to make sure any constitutional problems if any are taken care of. In addition, work on these eye exercises to strengthen/train the eye muscles. Unfortunately, these facilities are not as readily available here as much in the UK. Also, the health insurance does not cover these alternative approach here. Thanks |
