Hello Everyone,
I had been doing some research on the most common ailments that the patients come to us homeopaths for and the most commonly used homeopathic medicines. Please take out some time to answer the following:

1. What are the 10 most common acute problems with which, patients come to U?

2. What are the 10 most common meds that U use in such cases?(statistically speaking)

3. What are the 5 most common chronic complaints that the patients bring to U?

Need Your Co-operation

Dear Dr Bhatia,

I have been off-line for awhile and missed this post.

The acutes I see most commonly is Influenza, Gastroenteritis, Colds, Sports injuries and recently a case of Malaria.Otherwise people rarely consider me when they have an acute. Brisbane has very little education when it comes to Homoeopathy, and they trot off to the Allopath.

I use Baptisia, Gelsemium, Dulcamara, Sulphur, Eup-per and Ars for flu; Lyc, Ars, Coloc, Chin for Gastro; Rhust-t, Arn, Calc, Ruta, Calc-p, for injuries - although I will usually find a "constitutional remedy" rather than an acute for this. I see some women with morning sickness, which I give Ph-ac, Lac-ac, Tab, Colch ,Ipe or Sep for. Still go for a deeper remedy if I can though.

Chronic complaints are Depression, Anxiety disorders, Dysmenorrhea, Lack of energy(CFS), Irritible Bowel Syndrome.

I see relatively few acutes due to the nature of my practice, but the following would be the most common:

Injuries - cuts, bruises etc
Muscle/joint strains
Coughs
Fever/flu
Pharyngitis/laryngitis
Gastro-enteritis
Conjunctivitis
Hyperemesis
Acute grief

Remedies I probably use for these most commonly: Bell, Arn, Ruta, Gels, Calendula & Hypericum cream, Bry, Phos, Ars, Euphrasia tincture, Sepia, Ignatia (who's counting?)

Five most common chronic conditions I see are:

Arthritis
Eczema
Asthma
Menopausal flushes
Vaginitis

With depression, migraine & IBS close behind

Interesting how conditions seen in different areas - I've never been asked to treat jet-lag, and malaria wouldn't be top of the list here either!

Can I be cheeky and ask, 'what is the research' you are doing? Who is it for, what conclusions will you be making, is it for yourself? What do you hope to do with the results? Homeopathy can't be boxed. There is no such thing as a popular or most used remedy and I don't need to do 'research' to find that out. In my experience my most used remedy is Arnica. It's in my pocket as I speak. My reasons for asking are genuine and not meant to be abrasive.
regards
Simon
