Red face

Hi

About 2 weeks ago I superficially burned my wrist on a hot pan.

It refuses to heal. It is now sore and half 'open' surrounded by crusty yellow. The skin around the scab is red and inflamed. The whole wound is only about 1 and a half centimetre in diameter. So it's silly and I've left it and left it. Every time I feel it's about to heal it splits open again and starts to bleed.

Does anyone have any ideas of a tincture of some sort I could apply topically?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts....
Deb

Cool

Oh man...I have to share this with you guys!

But, first let me say sorry you burned yourself, Deb and also, I'm not saying what I used will work now (not sure).

I burned my thumb on the oven rack (the oven was 220C - that is 450F!) and it was such a bad burn. Part of it was third degree and the pain was EXCRUTIATING. I went down on my KNEES CRYING LIKE A BABY!

Anyhow, in recalling what GM told me once about a burn for my daughter - to use for the pain....Echinacea (I believe it was 30x).

So, being in so much pain - I RAN for the rem's and took a dose. WITHIN half an hour 95% of the pain WAS GONE!!! NO kidding..and this burn was 2nd and 3rd degree (the whole thumb pad).

I have three friends who are nurses here who saw the burn and guessed that it was maybe a month old in the healing process - guess how many days it really was????

6.

They were absolutely impressed and asked heaps of questions.

I know too that on D Little's site - you will see the first-aid room - and in there you'll see a link for burns - and I found that very helpful.

Hope you feel better soon!!
Take care,
Lisa

Hi

Thanks for the replys.

I'd only heard of Echinacea as in the herbal tincture. It's a very impressive story Lisa! I expect it's too late for that now but I might keep the remedy in potency for the future... just in case. You always feel so foolish when you get a burn in the kitchen. At least I do, it's a case of 'How could I have been so stupid?'....

Thanks Hoppitt, I had thought of calendula myself but I thought that it was so good at healing that it might heal the wound before the infection cleared up. That is I thought I had to clear up the infection first. Am I making sense here??

Anyway thanks
Deb

Calendula is also used for cleaning the wound.
Hep Sulph can be taken for infected burns as can Calc Sulph which might be worth looking at with regard to the yellow crusts.

Herbal Echinacea tincture heals and gets rid of infection when used topically. I recommend that you dilute it a little as it may sting. You could mix it with the Calendula tincture.

Personally if I burn myself on an iron or oven I use Nelson's homeoapthic burns iointment. If bad Causticum 30C stops the pain in 7 mins flat and I have tested that. For 3rd degree burns Cantharis 30C is the one to use.

I think you need to take Phosphorous 30c, two doses on two seperate days.

Wounds heal and break out again
Wounds which appear to have healed break out again and bleed.

The rubric is

Wounds, break and heal again - carb-v, phos

Caust is definitely the remedy for burns that fail to heal, but the symptom itself is more characteristic of Phos.
