Dear Hoppitt,

Delusion, Black, objects and people--
Pulsatilla is there. It's also there for weepy, of course, and Mind, guilt feelings.
A puls. would be unable to end this relationship.

Does it fit the case?

Snoopy

Well, if I may enter into the psychological ring , I agree that NM is a good idea on the basis of what is given.
If you look at the Periodic Table of the Elements you find that sodium is in the third period [if you count hydrogen and helium as the first].
On the left hand side of the table the elements which bond most strongly are those high up in their groups, so that for example, Lithium is more reactive than Sodium, but all those under Sodium are less reactive than Sodium. This means that when Sodium forms a bond with Chlorine to form salt [nat mur] it is a bond that is difficult to displace because the bond energy is high. If Mr Lithium turns up, well he could do it, but no one besides him could break it.
I suppose it's not the kind of explanation that you were looking for, but Natrums find it incredibly difficult to break bonds because of all the [psychological] reasons your patient cites.
It's odd how Hahnemann denied the Law of Signatures when it so clearly does apply.

Divina, that is a rubric i have been searching for - my 1994 copy of the Complete Repertory doesn't have it listed, I wonder how many new additions there are in later editions of that repertory and is there any way of acquiring a print of new and updated information? Also, where could I find information on the remedies listed in that rubric, my books don't have any!
Maryanne.

My experience has always been if you can get a remedy that covers the core belief or delusion the patient has, then it will cure the case. There are many successful homoeopaths who use this method.

However, it can also trip the unwary, and many new homoeopaths can get frustrated when this method doesn't work. In order to use a core belief, you first have to find it, which means digging as deep as you can go. Sankaran says when you get to the symptom that the person cannot explain, cannot say why it happens, then you are very near the basic delusion.

It is important not to jump to conclusions about it, not to mix it up with your own feelings and delusions. It is also important to expand the number of remedies you know so that the polycrests are not all you ever give to patients. The repetory is your best friend when it comes to reminding you to look further abroad.

If you can translate the feeling to a rubric, rather than assuming a particular remedy covers it, then you will be more likely to hit the right remedy.

For instance, feeling trapped in a relationship could be seen in the rubric

"Delusion is caught in wires" - CACT, cimic, ust.

Cimicifuga

As if a heavy black cloud had settled over her.
Great depression
All is darkness and confusion
Takes no interest in housework
Sites and mopes in great sadness
Sees wires encaging him
Feels imprisoned

Cimic tends to use stong language like " I can't stand the torture" "I am falling apart" "Everything is collapsing" " My life is ending" etc.

David JK Thanks
I apprieciate this statement because then I am not limited to my present knowledge but rather will keep open minded and continue to expand my knowledge.
"If you can translate the feeling to a rubric, rather than assuming a particular remedy covers it, then you will be more likely to hit the right remedy.".... and open to learn nore remedies.
This is one reason why I really apprieciate the sections on 'help find a rubric' as it gives me new ways or views of looking at things.

Hi Maryanne,

I took the rubric out of the Complete Repertory--but I have a Mind section which is more up to date than the complete rep I've got.

It is always up to date on-line, however--you can get it at www.irhis.nl which is Van Zandvoort's home page. Updates are put in all the time! It also has a very good search facility which really helps.

For information on the substances in the rubric, you can find out who did the proving on most new remedies at www.dynamis.edu ;then, once you have the necessary names, you can always find the books in print (if they've been published) or post your request for information here--someone may have it on file and I'm sure they would be delighted to send you a copy.

Hope this helps,
Divina
